I'm curious, why not put this blog on the existing site? Why use blogspot?

Because blogger is a service of google and thus integrated with their other service like youtube, picasa, etc. Blogger is collaborative and allow you to easily manage contents and comments and is blog-oriented. Finally there is no limitation to bandwith nor size of the blog (pictures, videos...) thus, it is money saving for our good lord drathe

Good thing. Large Websites are expensive. Also saves storage space for more content at the Inn.

Is there a way to join without submitting information to Google? I generally like to maintain my privacy when companies such as Google or Facebook are concerned.

Hi Daedalus! Here are several possibilities to try:

1/create a separate email account for the blog (doesn't need to be gmail)
2/send me per mail your article
3/ use the Scribe sub-forum to post articles.

You could always give them fake information.

I frequently use a dummy email account for anything I need to sign up for on the web. I keep my personal emails separate and just for friends and family to avoid unwanted spam.
