So use "pass through rock" to enter the boulder, then control it from the inside, Hamster style!

Note that Pass Through Rock only lasts 1 turn, though, so if the Hero doesn't vacate the boulder by the end of his turn, he's going to be stuck inside the boulder for the rest of time - or until the boulder smashes :P.

Or maybe he could just use this power to "possess" a Gargoyle (they're made of stone, right?).

That reminds me, where is the "rescue" spell that lets you carry somebody safely through rock on your turn? :gargoyle:

The Wizard and maybe the Elf would be most helpful in this situation. You can usually tell how the boulder will do on its first roll and if it's dangerously close to somebody 2 normal precautions can be made: I've seen heroes use Pass Through Rock to backtrack over the boulder or into one of the rooms to avoid being bowled over. The other is Swift Wind, to outrun the rock. On average, one hero will naturally outrun it and one will normally straggle; but very rarely do you see three, if not all 4 heroes getting hit.

Though I've never seen it done, I think the best course of action would be for the hero with the Ring of Return to teleport himself and all other heroes back to the starting doorway, completely avoiding the boulder.

The prototype version of "Fire of Wrath" (seen only in the tv commercial spot for the original board game) could be used to "blow up" the boulder...

I'm not sure... I'm pretty sure that would've only applied to furniture.
But I guess it doesn't really matter.

Yep, that's how we play it.
