Reputation is a topic a lot of us love. Here's some ideas:
#1 For Hero's who store gold & equipement in a Shed/Home or Keep, the EWP rolls to see if bandits burglarizes the Heros home at the end of each quest. The difficulty of the roll is determined by if the Hero pays for guards or not to protect it, & how often police patrol there which is effected by Reputation. The higher Reputation, the higher the police presence.
#2 Between quests Hero's should be forced to make some basic rolls for common negative situations that come up in town's & cities when being an Adventurer, such as bothering the police by getting in a bar fight( less patrols past your house), bothering poor beggar kids( BodyPoint Dammage to your house do to vandalism), bothering the religious or merchant class by drunkenly peeing in public( higher prices for goods...community service?)
I don't think Hero's should be given "good situations", only bad ones that they must survive with a slim chance of gaining Reputation if they win more rolls than they lose. This could add a good comidic ending to each game that the Hero's must worry about that gives them something to laugh about when they start the next game..."Fing kids threw rocks through all my windows &it's gonna cost me 50gc to repair! I better make some good money on this next quest."
A minimum of three situations should be faced at the beginning of each quest to see if the Hero wins or loses a single Reputation point. 10points total available? Idk
Negative Reputation points brings constant troubles each time the Hero ends a quest & enters home/town & costs him money in repairs to his home, bribes to get police patrols to come by, or must sit the Hero OUT due to doing "community service" & instead let a weaker relative(cousin/nephew) take his place for the next game...ONE less body point for the relative?
Others & I are working on Reputation on one of my threads at this moment titled "Quests for in Town" if you're interested.
