@ Cynthia-
At first your idea of Adamantite and Mithril Plate Mail seemed too much, but after thinking about it...why not? The Elf Quest Pack is hard, and the Barbarian Quest Pack is off the grid with Polar Warbears that can roll 8 Attack dice against a Hero! However, to keep Borin's Armor relavent, I'd make it an artifact to be added in just before the Barbarian Quest Pack (perhaps in a special Quest):

        Adamantine Armor

This magical Plate Mail and Helmet
gives you 4 extra combat die in
defense. Unlike normal Plate Mail, your
maximum movement is equal to your
starting Body Points while wearing this
meteoric armor. May not be worn by
the Wizard.

When I first saw that quest I was thinking..."200 gold isn't squat". Even if they are full one troy ounce gold coins they would only weigh about 16 pounds and change. Put it in a small chest and add maybe 10 pounds. If the coins are like Roman gold coins and are about the size of a dime they only weigh about 1/10 of an ounce. (1/10 ounce is the standard weight measure I use for coins in my games.) Even at the full ounce coins size 200 gold is a negligable amount of weight. It doesn't take long for the Heroes to amass much larger sums of cash looted from dungeons.
I would suggest that the quest have the heroes recover a 'vast amount of treasure that is locked 4 in huge chests'. Opening a chest triggers a death spell that kills the offender and the chest seals imediatly. No one gets to know what the Prince has in the chests.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

That gives me an idea. Prince Magnus' chests filled with much more gold. Then if they decide to keep it, a following quest where heroes are hunted by the princes soldiers.

now that, ethica, is an excellent idea. I feel embarrassed that I didn't think that one up on my own.
That could be LOTS of fun.

I think I'll go with this instead:

    Plate Mail
    850 Gold Coins
          Armor
This heavy metal armor gives
you 2 extra combat dice in
defense. However, because it is so
heavy, your movement is reduced
by 2 points while wearing it.
May be combined with the Helmet
and/or Shield. May not be worn
by the Wizard.

And leave the chain mail the way it is. I don't like having a set maximum. Sometimes you need to get away fast, and if you throw 10, you're still 8 points ahead. Of course, if you throw 2, you're screwed. Hmmm...

I'm still undecided...

other country but same problem^^

my players never buy heavy armor because is expensive and movement penalty is more importante for just one defend dice up.
Choose one dice between two is good solution, simple with any aritmetics lol

I killing the probleme with over method.
i create an heavy helmet ( +2 dice defense) and heavy warhammer( 4 dice attack but one handed compatible with shield) with same kind ok movement penalty.
SO have movement penalty with 3 weapons or armor is more attractive when you fight with 4 dice attack and 7 dice to defend....you become a behemot..slow but powerfull

I have just scrapped the movement penalty associated with Plate Armour entirely and replaced Borin's Armour with Borin's Helmet that provides you with an extra combat dice in defence against normal attacks (as per a standard Helmet) plus an extra combat die in defence against spells*

*spell break tests and similar where you usually roll 1 die for each Mind Point, this enables you to roll one extra die

In terms of PM's Gold, I agree that specifying that the 3 chests contain 250gc each, is unnecessary, and does lead to the thought that if PM wants his gold back, and presumably doesn't have too much of a sentimental attachment to his chests, then the heroes should just take the gold and leave the chests, therefore bypassing the movement penalty entirely. Perhaps a better option is just leaving the gold amount unspecified, they are magically sealed caskets (hence why the Orcs haven't emptied them), containing some gold and I use the term "caskets" to differentiate them from the standard treasure chests, as standard treasure chests cannot be moved, whereas these smaller caskets I would rule can be picked up and moved without penalty (although only one per hero). This also avoids dragging out the "long walk home" which in turn avoids that descending into a house rule fest around unchallenged movement.
