Many of us know the famous Barbarian Quest Pack from 1992, including its severe problems with difficulty, exhausting and repetitive gameplay, etc., that were not repaired in the recent reprint, alas. However, I always found the concept, ideas, and physical game components of that expansion to be excellent. So I decided to do a substantial overhaul of all BQ rules and quests especially, which I thereby adapted to my own ruleset (called Tactical HQ). You will find this alternative BQ quest series among the other THQ stuff here:

I am not going to elaborate on the changes that were made to the BQ quests here in detail, but the key things are: the difficulty was reduced, quests were streamlined and shortened to be playable within 4-5 game hours each (solo quests go a bit faster, the final double quest goes longer). During the rework, I had lots of new ideas for making the quests more interesting and more unique and also for some extra fun stuff. This means that the TBQ quest book includes many more changes than would have been necessary, especially in quests 7-10. Story and gameplay connections between the quests were also somewhat strengthened. The whole campaign was played with 4 living human hero players, and they enjoyed it a lot.
Finally, although this quest series is written for the THQ ruleset, it should also work with the original HQ rules. You can simply leave out the special THQ elements or replace them with what comes closest to them in standard HQ and call everything „Thermodynamic Barbarian Quest“ instead.
Hope you enjoy reading it (the Morcars/Zargons of you only!) and playing it! If you do, let us know how the major battles in quests 9 and 10 played out with your gaming group.
