Some of the items might be capable of being simply omitted. I suspect at least one or two of them are in the game only to make up for the fact that this is a somewhat advanced "expansion" and yet the characters you play with lack the items and artifacts you would have achieved by this level if you were playing the board game, so they made it item and artifact heavy to advance the play level quickly. Of course, I am in favor of including as much of the original stuff as we can, but we could omit redundant items, for example, do the crystals behave the same as scrolls? Let me know if you agree with this idea. Also, if we do it that way we might need to decide where it comes in the chronology of play. Judging just from the difficulty of the first level, it might fit between ROTWL and the elf/barbarian quest packs. However, the story suggests it could be later.
Sure it's pretty scary when the witch lord returns but what you should really be afraid of is "Resurrection of the Witch Lord". Resurrected baddies always come back more threatening than ever, usually kind of demonic with wings and horns and hell fire to announce their arrival. Think Gannondorf or Mother Brain from Super Metroid.

I agree that the abundance of items is because this is a "closed" adventure.
I do however think we should include all the items, but make the redundant ones "one use per quest" or something like that. Or they could behave a little different, but not necessarily be overpowered.

The Venom Broad Sword could for instance grant only 2 attack dice, but all damage is doubled. Harder to hit tough enemies, but potentially high damage (Need to do sum mathz to balance).
Dagger of might could let you attack twice with 1 attack dice.
Oh! And helmet of casting could grant 1 guaranteed 100% successful cast spell per quest. Fireball automatically does full damage, sleep spell puts to sleep with no need to roll etc. etc.

As for the chronology... I honestly believe LoS is it's own seperate continuity and canon. You can even play it with none of the original heroes!
I think however the difficulty fits right in along the american expansions, so yeah... But those are not a part of any storyline and can be played in any order. I think this should be our aim.
I don't really think we need to explain why the heroes are doing these quests or why Mentor isn't there... This is just a stand alone adventure. Juat roll with it ;)

That's fair enough, though when it comes time I do plan on playing it with "Mentor" as the source, but that's just me, haha. I just beat the second quest, I didn't take screen captures of as many of the treasure finds this time. I forgot with some of them, but for the most part it was just money. I did get the capture for the "greatsword" which was called a "spirit blade" in the item event screen. I also got the oracle stone(the quest item), and some others. I'll get that transcribed before long. I labeled all of the monsters, and a few of the pieces of furniture as well. As soon as I finish the transcription I will send that.

Cool. Should I give it a go on making the first Quest?

*Edit: We could perhaps write an intro from Mentor telling the heroes to go to the faraway land of xxx to help yyy with zzz - And from there it's the ingame dialogues etc. we use.

you have an old school game collection? :O
Do you also have an Amiga? I sold mine way back... :'( But then again, there's plenty of roms and amiga emulators for pc, so I can always emulate any game I'd like to play, even commodore 64, sega, snes etc.
But it is kinda cool to own one :P Did you try it out yet?

I mostly got C64, nes, ps and gameboy stuff - including the consoles.
I got a bunch of spectrum games and a few sega and amiga games too - but sadly not the actual consoles.
Plan on actually getting the consoles. It's a hobby... Scouting for cheap parts here and there. It's fun :-)
Got "A boy and his blob" for gameboy at a fleamarked for ~1£ :-D

Awesome! I wasn't bidding on that game, no, but I thought about it at one point. I decided, however, that since I don't have the system for it I would just try to find someone out there who already owned it and consult them. I'm willing to bet that the manual or something included with the game will have an introduction for the entire pack, I've seen it on some other sites, but I would like to be certain, let me know when you get it. Also, I like your compromise that includes Mentor, I vote yes to that. I think Ethica seemed interested in assisting with this on some level also (are you still reading Ethica?). Should we begin by assigning "duties"?

I have a box of old Atari games on the attic somewhere I believe... I remember wanting to sell them a long time ago, but I can't really remember what I did with them. Didn't sell them, that I know... I do know I made some pics for eBay, but can't find those either. Damn... If I find them I'll post pics for you, if you're interested ;)

But let's move to the private messages. This thread is on a dangerous (yet cool) slope
