Thank you. It's always nice to hear positive feedback. |_P

There will be one last update to the Quest Pack as I need to redo the rage tokens and want to add the wandering monster and falling block/arrow icons to the trap rules section.

Have you designed other heroes except the War Priest?

Not yet. I'm planning on writing a Bright Wizard QP as well, but I don't imagine that will be as much fun as the Trollslayer or Warrior Priest as it will just be new fire spells.

Thanks for the token measurements. They're bigger than I thought!

Room A of quest 3 has always annoyed me a bit because I don't think it is clear that the door is the cave entrance and there is no point in the ice cavern entrance as the Trollslayer will never be able to 'see' it. I'm considering making the following change.

Image

  1. The Trollslayer starts here. The door in this room is the cave entrance, it should be open when placed on the board and the Trollslayer can see the overground tile.

Does this change make this map unnecessarily complicated? Opinions would be apreciated. |_P

Also here is a tile I have been working on for the underground spring in room c of this quest. It's not going to be added to the official QP, but is available here if anyone wants it. (300dpi download)

I prefer the old one, just change Trollslayer's starting position:
Image
Quickly gathering your equipment, you run for the cave entrance but it is too late.

It make sense to me because the deafening sound woke him up, he runs to the exit, he doesn't make it BUT he saw what's outside.
He actually knows what's outside, he entered into the cave to take a sleep and protect himself from the cold weather.
So you read the text to the player and then you put the blocking square in front of him. Why not? It makes stronger the feeling that he is trapped
and this tile also, contradicts with the rest "dark cave" board.

On your new map there's no deafening sound yet (probably you'll change the text?)
And what if a crazy player says: i jump to the diagonal square!

I got to this thread late, but if you're not finished with your last update, I could proofread as well. This Quest Pack has been interesting to work with.

This was pretty much how I expected someone to play it. My concern was around someone placing a closed door in the starting room which would be a bit weird :?
I think I'll leave it as it is because I hadn't considered this...

I always imagined something like this for that room

It's not quite what I created on the tile, but as I said, it's not being added to the pdf as an official resource for this QP. I was more exited about working with the source tiles I found here

I sure would appreciate you taking a look through it. The current version is the 4th update I think and I'm pretty certain that it's solid but let me know if you find anything |_P

Hopefully I can make the Warrior Priest and Bright Wizard Quest Packs as interesting as this one.

Question re the runes.

Postby The Admiral » May 16th, 2015, 11:11 am

There are two cards for each rune. Can two of the same runes be placed on the same axe?

Duplicate rune cards are provided so the player may inscribe each rune on more than one weapon. I'm pretty sure that there is a line in the pdf that states a weapon may be inscribed with each rune once only but I'll check this evening and amend it if needed. |_P

EDIT:

from the top of page 5.

Each weapon may be inscribed with both runes once only and the effect of these runes may only be used when attacking, or defending with that weapon.

Perhaps this is not as clear as it could be but it is in there.

Well, it has been a while, but I'll offer an edit of the introductory text 'cause I like remarkable stuff at the Inn to shine. Since the fluff text hasn't yet been edited, I started at the beginning. If you're still interested in working on this Quest Pack, I can go over the rest of the pack later--if it needs anything. Suggested edits are in blue.

The Road Warrior wrote: The shame of his actions weighed heavily upon the dwarfs
shoulders as he sunk to his knees in front of the ancient altar.
Shunned by his kin and outcast from the stronghold that he called
home, as his ancestors had before him for many generations, he wandered
from one hold to the next. But the stigma of what he had done followed
him everywhere he went. Finally he had come to the one place that
offered him any chance of redemption, the Slayer Shrine.

the shrine. The words flowed off his tongue with a natural ease despite
the impending doom they condemned him too. But his fate had been sealed
long before he arrived at this place. He ran his fingers through his
freshly dyed hair. Once long and golden it was now a bright, fiery orange
as are all dwarfs that have recited the oath. He reached out and picked
up the ceremonial knife from the altar. Running his thumb along the
length of the blade drew blood. It was sharp, he knew, he had sharpened
it himself. And even now, dishonoured as he was, he still took great
pride in his work. He wiped the blood from his thumb on his cheeks
before reaching up to his scalp and beginning to shave.

Finally he gathered up the cuttings from the floor and cast them into
the fire.

in front of the altar, contemplating again the awful events that had
brought him here. His new life offered him a chance of redemption, but
the price would be death in combat. A fair trade, he thought. And with
that he turned and left, in search of his certain doom.
