Anyone have any idea where to go to get an amiga kickstart 1.3 rom? I can't emulate without it. Let me know, thanks.
Sure it's pretty scary when the witch lord returns but what you should really be afraid of is "Resurrection of the Witch Lord". Resurrected baddies always come back more threatening than ever, usually kind of demonic with wings and horns and hell fire to announce their arrival. Think Gannondorf or Mother Brain from Super Metroid.

Okay, I still haven't gotten to play the game, but I did mock up a quest pack front cover. I still need to add a smattering of color to it, so I have it saved both in jpeg and a format that handles all 4 layers. Let me know what you think. Also, I did try a little bit of coloring on the image, but I am pretty amateur an it shows when I start coloring. Is anyone interested in helping the coloring? I am looking for something comparable to the barbarian quest book color. Most of it is gray-scale, but there are skin tones and other things filled in.

I hope this image works.

Thanks a ton! Also, I guess I could keep the color in the quest book cover if I go for a similar look to Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord. I'll mock up a color version tomorrow and then let you guys choose. In the meantime, are you able to see the image I posted? I can't get into image shack here so I tried using flickr, but I am not sure if I did it right, much less if it will work.

Update: I changed the link. It now includes the black and white line version, the new color version, and the two styles of quest book I am emulating. The line art needs a little muted color like the Barbarian Quest Book, and the colored version is too sharp to compare to the Return of the Witch Lord version. If anyone thinks they can achieve the desired effect, I have multiple versions of each(with layers, without layers) and I can send them to you. Likewise, imagining what it should look like when finished, what do you think? Which do you like best? Thanks.

Re: Legacy of Sorasil quest pack?

Well, I finally located the needed components for playing Legacy of Sorasil. I have them...I know where to find them...and the game is fun so you should play, but I will not encourage you to pirate it... That heavy hinting aside, is anyone else interested in helping me document the game for conversion? I know Goblin King showed interest, just drop me a line.

Update: I learned, the hard way, that there are a ton off traps in this game, I finished the first map and pasted it all together with a grid. Be warned, it is missing some trap locations, and I killed almost all of the monsters before copying the images. I intend to play through each map once, copy the map sections and record all the treasures and monsters on a separate sheet, and then play through them again and fill in monster types and locations as well as trap locations, furniture locations, and so on.

it certainly needs adjusting to fit on the classic map. However, I daresay that it looks like it might be suited to use with the castle map from the dragon strike game, except that the first map is intended to be the "Barrowmound of Yaserat", and I don't think castles generally resemble barrow mounds.

Also, so far the first level has the following:
16 Skeletons
21 Zombies
1 Stone Golem (The miniboss known as "The Warrior of Stone)
3 Vampires
9 ghosts
3 mummies
1 helm of casting(not sure what it does)
1 boots of speed (not certain of full effect yet)
1 Gloves of Strength (not certain of effect)
1 Golden ring of elements (without which you cannot harm the stone golem)
1 Ring of wonders (not sure what it does)
1 key of bone (actually did not get this one yet)
potions of potentially varying strength.

I believe the levels should be converted to fit into the normal HQ board.

I think I tend to agree with you more and more. That is especially true considering I would like this to look as official as possible in the end.

I have since then found the kick start, however, sometimes my circumstances (Linux, Chinese firewall, Chinese bandwidth, etc.) make it difficult to find the proper items. It took a while for Google to be successful in finding a working kick start, thus the inquiry here. I'm not stupid, Google is usually the first thing I try. To top it off, the first time I thought I found the kick start the download included "kickstart1.3.exe"(likely virus, Trojan, etc. .exe isn't close to the right file type) rather than "kickstart1.3.rom". Obviously I didn't download it, but I did notice multiple google search results linked to that site. Sometimes it is beneficial to ask people who are a hair closer to you than the strangers presented by a Google search.

Someone made a good point by asking me exactly what my goals are regarding this conversion, so I will answer here.

I'm hoping for a reasonable conversion. By that I mean hopefully the same number of quests, each with the same number of rooms. Quest texts/objectives and other text based things will be too easy to copy, and since I like treating this as a new expansion I would like to introduce the new monster types. However, plenty of other things should be changed a little. Room sizes, corridor sizes, and room arrangement will not match. Monster numbers may be excessive, and artifact like items are guaranteed excessive from my experience in the first quest. Trap numbers could be reduced, though I like preserving the feeling of the game so I want to preserve a comparable number of traps/hidden doors. I would also like to use similar furniture with similar arrangement. So, ultimately I would like us to take the flavor of the computer game and mix it into an official looking quest pack

I just found a site with all of the maps posted, which is great, but it is in another language. I guess Google translate is in order. So, I will work through this and fill in additional information about the maps later.

Some of these maps are huuuuuuuuuuge! I think the biggest and most complex ones will need to be split up a little, or maybe a lot of exploration will just be cut out for simplification. What do you think?
