I tried that as one of the options I explored. I can get it to display in the HeroScribe window by adding it to the objects.xml and sizing the image correctly - which took some fiddling. Also required were files in the vector folders, which were essentially dummy files.
However, I could not export to PDF or eps, it puts any icons out but not the map (I did not try PNG, though maybe because its raster it could work). Ill try that here in a sec.
What do windows users use to gzip files by the way? I used an old command line utility for ths but figure there should be a GUI version out there somewhere.
Edit: well screw me.....it does export PNG just fine. Ill have to play with the quality more.

As you can see, I don't have it aligned properly...but that should be doable with more fiddling around. I'd think a standard size per square and border white could be come up with that was pretty universal.
