Quest Idea : Fire & Ice

Postby gravaillon » August 19th, 2012, 7:01 am

Have you ever seen the great animated movie by Ralph Baskhi and Frank Frazzeta released in 1982 called "Tygra, Fire & Ice" ?

The vilain, Nekron the sorcerer can move huge ice wall over territory, use mental control spell to force people to kill themselves... I think this vilain is a very great man for making a quest for heroquest perhaps a 3 quest pack will be enough. The nekron's fools, called Nekron's Dogs, can be replaced by Ice Orcs (blue Orcs) and there can be new traps, directly controled by Nekron himself to make him always present along the 3 quests and not just on the last quest...

For example, he can freeze some rooms to freeze heroes for a number of turns, he can add some ice wall to block some passages, he can control a hero for 1 turn if the GM roll a black shield on a dice on his turn...

Tell me what do you think about this and also give your own ideas to make the pack better...

Beernut found a bag of 100 zombie DOGS at some gaming store or other - maybe you could use those for the ice dogs. They were the perfect scale for HQ and they were unpainted. You could make a dozen ice dogs, a dozen burning dogs, a dozen zombie dogs, a dozen brass dogs, etc etc etc...

Hard to tell from this pic, particularly since one of them is colored with magic marker, but they have little rips and tears all in their skin, and one of the eyes bulges out. Gross.

Nekron's dog are not really dogs !!! They are savage men, like prehistoric or cannibal men...

Loved the movie. It's definitively quest material alright. You could use The Frozen Horror tiles and go from there.

It’s a fantastic movie with the amazing technique of retroscope animation. For the youngest members here, it is a must to watch it.

ps: another movie you should know is the “heavy metal movie”… It’s not “sword and sorcery”, but it’s worth a lot

I have to try and remember to come back and watch the whole movie. Trailer makes it look pretty good.

Of course, I'm usually down with almost everything frazetta does...he is BOSS.
