So, I got some Orcs!

Postby clmckay » June 22nd, 2015, 12:37 pm

So, driving down the road Saturday, I pass a garage sale (I hate garage sales) and happen to see a tote that says "Warhammer" on the side. I flip around and investigate. My search for treasure yields a large plastic tote filled with assembled, partially assembled, and some on sprue Warhammer Orcs.

I have......Regular Orcs (With assortments of weapons and some with shields), Savage Orcs (2 weapon, 1 with a spear and shield), Black Orcs (2 weapon, 1 with Sword and Shield), Orc Boar riding things (unassembled) and Savage Orcs riding Boars (With Shields, some not assembled).

My question. I've scribbled down some stats I like, of course don't have them with me though. But what about special abilities? I was thinking for the:

Savage Orcs: 2 Attacks (2 weapons) May move, attack, move attack.
General lore seems to indicate they're savage and attack without care. To me, that would merit the moving and attacking flavor of the universe.

Black Orcs: 2 Attacks (2 weapons), but don't know about special abilities. I had thought Move, Attack, Move, but that seems redundant with the Savage Orcs.
The move/attack/move doesn't seem to have a good flavor with their in universe place. Which is that of big hulking brutes who are well armed and trained.

Same problem with the Boar riders, what type of special ability? I'm thinking of leaving them with 2 attacks too, the Boar and the Orc rider.

What do you all do?

Awesome find, clmckay!

Perhaps a reroll of one attack die or one defend die, (or both!) would suit the style of a well-armed and well-trained orc?

If you want to stay within the original warhammer-esque universe of HQ then maybe:
Savage orcs war paint: in warhammer it gives them an invulnerable save of 6+, so maybe they could ignore one attack save per game or only get hurt on two skulls thrown ignoring the first/single skull.
Black orcs: They are heavily armoured larger but more disciplined than the average greenskin, so maybe an increase in mind points and the ability to attack diagonally/ like their switching weapon rule.
Boar boys: Impact hits, they gain D6 extra (or D3) attacks if they charge into combat (only when they charge, not when they are charged or move less than their max move) for that first round of comabat, if they win they could also knock the hero prone.

Savage Orcs - like Orcs but with an extra attack and one fewer defense.
Black Orcs - like Chaos Warriors. It seems a bit redundant, but they are more flavourful in greenskin dungeons than CWs.

Savage Ork: A Black Shield on an attack counts as a 2 Skull hit.
Black Ork: Black Shields count as a 2 Skull hit on an attack and defends on white shields.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

We open the scene with a young man having just graduated from college and moved out of his mother's house. He's returning to visit for the 4th of July and looking to pick up a few more things...

Man> "Hey Ma! Have you seen my WarHammer stuff? I've looked everywhere!!"

Mother> "Oh yes, those silly things? I sold them to a nice young man who came by the yard sale a couple of weeks ago. You can have the $5 he gave me."

Man> "MOM!!!!!!"

Mother> "Grown men don't really care for that stuff. I also got $10 for all those old the comic books!"

Man> "Gahhhh!!!"
Has resigned from the forum and would delete his account if he could.

Thanks Guys, here are my current stats. I'm hoping to find a little time to test these stats out tonight.

EDIT: It was a cut/paste from excel. Doesn't looked like it pasted so good. Here's a pdf.

my mounted monsters always have a larger movement, plus if they have moved X or more squares before attacking they gain an extra 2 dice OR an extra skull depending on the unit.
