Here is something I've been working with for poison:
A creature does its damage as normal...it can either be all poison, or only one point of that damage is poison.
That damage cannot be healed normally, but a spell or healing potion. SO...the hero has a permanently lower
body point level until he gets a venom antidote or is healed by a "heal poison" spell...something like that.
I must admit though - reading over this thread again - I like the idea of the monster causing poison damage
only at a certain time - all skulls, for example. Perhaps, instead of a normal attack, it can choose to try and
poison the target, and it would have to roll for black shields. That would make it difficult, but could be very
dangerous.
And then, the hero would roll defense based on his current body points, as stated before, and would have to
roll white shields, as normal, to block each point of poison. AND THEN...he would still keep that damage until
he got his hands on a venom antidote.
OOOO - I think I'm going to use this...that's vicious.
