She'd be no use in the UK version, but I prefer the wound aspect in the NA version.

Yeah, obviously she is NA HQ only ;)

Jazzdrummer wrote:Very interesting. I went on the Arcane Quest website and man I wish they made a version for ipad...lol. I also read a read a few comments made about the assassin and both thought the 2 attack dice was rather weak. Suggestions included giving her 3 attack dice or making monsters roll twice for defense. I haven't tried her out so I can't say one way or the other. What were the rest of her stats? Thanks again for the help. My son is a sucker for the sneaky-types.

AQ Assassin:

Body points: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart: :redheart:
Attack: :skull: :skull:
Defense: :whiteshield: :whiteshield:
Movement: :roll3: :roll3: :roll3:

Cannot equip any weapon or shield.
Deals double damage to all non-undead creatures
Special ability: Evanescence (Basically unlimited "pass through rock" spells)
3 poison spells.

****

I agree... she DOES start out a little weak. Buying the 2000 gold +1 Attack ring is mandatory as it's the only way she can raise her attack.
But once you get her the ring she is a beast!
In general she benefits tremendously from + attack items/spells/consumables. In HeroQuest she would benefit equally to certain spells and potions.

She is not a hero that kills scores of monsters by rolling a huge amount of dice - but that's what the barbarian is for!

Thanks for the info. A few questions: Does she start out with 3 poison spells and is that what the spell is called? Lastly are the original 4 heroes in Arcane Quest the same as in the board game?

Oh! You poor man! I believe it's in fact only for android and windows phones...

In that case...
The assassin has 3 different spells.
Poison Smoke. Does 1 damage and target skips 1 turn.
Weakened Soul: Target casts only 1 defense die until hurt.
Deadly Eruption: Target casts only 1 attack die until hurt.

All the old classes have had some minor tweaks in the form of abilities. The stats are the same though.

Okay since the base board game doesn't have those spells do you think this assassin will be balanced and unique enough just with her double damage ability? Again I'm just trying to keep her on par with the other heroes. So she would have the double damage ability along with super fast movement(3d6).

Yes, i believe those 2 skills are enough. But make some changes on them:
- movement: roll 3d6 and select the 2
- double melee attack effect: allow her to use the original weapons but with the rule that when a :blackshield: is rolled, the sculls are not doubled (no effect)
Armoury restrictions: may not use plate mail, battle axe

Sweet. What would her starting weapon be? Short Sword I assume? Does the no effect only happen if she rolls it or does it include monster rolls too?

Imagine if the rogue had been a fifth hero in the original HQ. What would she be like?

Barbarian has NO special rules except good stats.
Dwarf can remove traps.
Elf has 1 set of spells.
Wizard is the most complex with 3 set of spells and armor restrictions.

That's not really a whole lot of flavor for such different heroes. The elf is basically just an untalented wizard.
It's really easy to over do it. Half the flavor comes from picking a bad-ass mini to represent your rogue.

Another option could be to give her the daggers from Forhan's version and the armor restrictions?
So many options :)

A lot of options for sure. I really like the idea of some kind of 'sneak attack' option and fast movement while adding armor and weapon restrictions like only daggers. This would give her 2 abilities though.

-Sneak Attack-

I do like the double damage idea from arcane quest. Nice and simple. But I also like the 'backstab' idea from Forhan's rogue. Very thematic though I don't I really want to add in facing rules. But again I haven't played this game since I was a kid so it might be a cool variant. I dunno. I'll try out a few variations once the game comes in.
