Does anyone know a site wher I can have the thick NA cardboard version of hero cards made, or have good advice on how to make them at home?

Easiest: Print onto sticker paper, stick onto card.

Print and play games. They do game prototyping, you can get it made from them to the exact size and very similar (if not exact) thickness. Pretty cheap too...maybe a few bucks for a couple of them.
