most of this is all concept and idea storming anyways
I do know I can't wait for friends to come and spend a weekend again so I can try some modifications to the ever evolving thing we call gaming.
So game play in the past was when it is EWP turn if the board is bereft of monsters, we dice for a monster and if no monster is rolled I get a Chaos Spell that I can give to a minion. {In the future I am going to go with EW Cards and I will print all the Chaos Spells off as EW Cards in addition to cards, so I don't loose the ability to play with them.}
If a monster is rolled out, I can place him anywhere on the board that 'has been discovered'. Typically I will place my fast monsters at the farthest place I can that has eyes on a hero. Once I have eyes on, I turn the dude around and run him to the stairwell. At the stairwell this monster can return in 2 turns with 1-2 wandering monsters. If I roll out a slow monster I just drop him next to the weakest hero and try and nuke them.
Now I was thinking....if I have a monster in play, but the dude is 'in the stairwell' as he is getting help...doesn't that mean I have 'no monsters in the dungeon'? Thus I should get a chance at a monster or a card.... Then I worry my players will consider that a lame interpretation of technicalities.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.
