Lucky Dagger
AD: 1 die
Instead of attacking with the dagger, a hero may do a search for gold (rooms only, not in corridors). This does not count as a treasure search, and no card needs to be drawn. Roll 1 combat die: black shield: wandering monster. White shield: you find 5 gold (or 10?). Skull: nothing found.

I have a different quibble with this variation of the design. The Lucky Dagger is two things: a dagger, and a means to get small random amounts of extra gold. If the dagger's power is just to add a "search for gold" option to the Hero's list of actions, optimum play is to ignore the "dagger" part of the Lucky Dagger and only use it for its gold function after the monsters in a room are dead, while attacking with some other weapon whenever entering a new room.

As for this form of the dagger being broken, I disagree. If you only get 5-10 gold per :whiteshield: on your extra gold search, statistically you will get one Wandering Monster for each 10-20 gold found. As long as the WMs are about on-par with the Heroes' current equipment level, they will probably run very low on Body Points well before they can amass much more than 100 gold per Quest.

(Not to mention, some of the other players would eventually get bored and leave whoever has the Dagger to fend for themselves, which would quickly put and end to gold-grinding shenanigans! |_P )
