Hey everyone how are you? I have been super busy with work (been putting in a lot of over time lol). Just curious to see how everyone was. Also too because I feel like a kid in a candy store I wanted to showcase a new piece in my collection of nerdness lol. This is the new lightsaber I got today! Man this sucker is bright! Keep in mind those photos with the blade on are in a fully lit room. And I'm 23, but I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. :D By the way if you guys are interested I would be more than willing to post up a video so you guys can not only see it, but hear it as well. |_P

Woo - that looks newer than the other ones that were over $100 in DVD stores...they must be using LEDs to light it up, because it also appears alot brighter than the previous replicas. And it appears that the blade is detachable!
See the only problem I have is that then I would be itching to do a little Kendo with them - and we hit kind of hard, because we have a good idea of what we're doing...

So it wouldn't be long before one of them gets really damaged...

Actually it's a custom made saber from http://www.ultrasabers.com/default.asp and it only uses one LED to light up the blade (it's actually built into the hilt). This means the blade is completely hollow and it is perfect for dueling. A heavy grade blade is just as durable as a bokken the only thing that can occasionally happen is the tip might fall off. Ultrasabers idea is to build affordable, custom made lightsabers that you can actually fight with. People do it all the time. :D The hilt is completely made of machined air craft grade aluminum so it won't break easily. I went all out of this one. I got the nickel plated shroud with quick disconnect feature (this means I can change the blade color). I also got the Obsidian soundboard with a blue anti vandal switch, and rechargeable batteries. Something like this would cost at least close to 600 dollars with another company, but with ultrasabers it was only 320! I can't begin to tell you how amazing this thing is! Their customer service is excellent as well. Their cheaper models are around 70 dollars these are stunt sabers (they do not have any sounds), and are a great way to get into the hobby. I recommend them to anyone interested in getting a lightsaber. You can fight with these things full force. :D

Dude that's cool!

Here's my video review I made of it. I have two versions ones a longer more detailed review where I show you how everything works. The other is a shorter review where I just show you the lights and sounds (so if you don't care about looking at the internals you want the shorter version lol).

Detailed review:

If throwing them off a balcony and running them over with a car can't break them... there's probably not much you could do to damage them through sword play. And keep in mind those weren't even the heavy duty blades lol. Unless you used a real sword. And at 70 bucks what better way to get into the hobby. You won't be disappointed I can tell you that much. :D If you have any questions I'll answer them as best I can. 8-)

*Also too the lightsaber I bought is using their new Obsidian soundboard and with it I can buy other sounds for it. For example instead of having the blade lock up sound I could change it to something like Force Choke. I'm really happy I bought this thing.

Well lightsaber fighting is different from even Kendo; there is still one surface to "cut" with and the back to "defend" if it is done properly, whereas for lightsabers any hit along its length is 'deadly', and can also be blocked at any point of the "sword".
BUT WHO CARES?!?! IT'S A FUNNN GAME!!!!

No less valid than Kendo!

Oh totally man! Believe it or not, but there are people that have been working on the different lightsaber forms.

I just wish I could find a bunch of people willing to spar with me.

Hell, pop into your local comic shop and pin a notice up! No reason you guys can't work slower, gently and easily as you build on your ability. Within 6 months you can be fast and proficient. Be careful though - a 105 lb stick-thin Japanese chick BROKE a brand new shinai section once, hitting mine! She was 2 Dan Kendo; but still - less than HALF my weight!
