The waters around Vancouver Island rose about a metre. The devastation in Japan is astonishing. Ten metre high tidal waves moving at 800km/h!

Sent an e-mail to someone I knew in the south. Hope they're ok - should be. They're about 4.5 hours away by jet from the epicenter...

I've been following the power plant part of it with great interest. Such potential to go wrong, and to harm so many more people... If radioactive material gets into the atmosphere, the whole world can feel the effects. (Moreso than the world feels it now with Japanese manufacturing and tech areas being affected.)

Got an e-mail returned from friend. she was alot more north when it struck! But they were far enough to hold the wedding they had traveled for anyway. Now there's a volcano spouting black smoke gas soot on the southern island that was my home for a few years! Glad it too is far from my friends there.

Remember the Russian problem at Chernoble, some say we are still having problems with the fall-out from that, after how many years!

I do. And at least a couple times a year, I check out photos from a Russian photographer of some of the disaster areas as they currently stand. It's so haunting.

We have a program, here in UK called The Daily Polotics. Today, a discussion on Nuclear Power. Where to go? We all want Electricity, but not Nuclear. Where is it going to come from? Wind-Wave technology? Not in my lifetime. Who is going to ration our power? Poloticians?
Sorry if I am a bit off track here.

No, we don't. It's the site itself wich is still highly dangerous, but there's no "fallout" anymore, let alone fallout that would threaten Middle Europe.
Have a look ;)
