Average HeroQuester age?

I would imagine it's somewhere around my own, which is 39. But I'm sure there's some people who were not kids anymore when it came out and played it and people who weren't born yet and picked it up along the line somewhere...

If you were 10 in 1990 (or 9 in 1989), you'd be 41 this year, based on the proposed min age for the game. Some of us started when we were a little older or younger of course. But the peak years would have been '89-92. By most of our teenage years video games (Sega Genesis 1989, Super Nintendo 1991) were taking many of us away from board games (or we'd gone into D&D or something else like MTG which got started in 1993). Warhammer seems like it was targeted more at college age and above (I never even heard of it until then at least). This is the experience of an American of course, it may have been totally different in say, the UK, where promotional HQ stuff was still coming out until '94 (for reference Warhammer Quest was '95, so it was a sequel and tribute already by then) but by then it was surely on the wane in terms of popularity.

Sounds like most of the people who started playing this year weren't 14 though... they were the kids or their parents from the first generation of players in so many cases.

And perhaps a very tiny percentage started because of a meme (beginning in 2012 with the UK commercial being posted on youtube and boosted by the Bard's humorous video about it in 2016... but that's highly speculative especially what their age would have been... youtube started in 2005 so if you were maybe in high school or middle school then probably early 30s by now).

39 for me as well. When I first got the game, I didn't really understand it, and the rule book seemed to be one hundred pages to my 8 year old brain.

I still enjoyed having the game, as I specifically asked for it for Christmas, but it was a couple years later before I understood how to play. Having a couple friends from school who also had the game helped a lot as well.

I am 41. Got my first HQ as a Christmas gift from my uncle. Doubt he knows what a huge impact that game still plays in my life even after all these years. My dad loved the game as much as I did and we quickly ordered KK and RotWL. Once we played through those, we sent off the mail order for FH but got a letter back instead. “We’re sorry, but due to lack of demand, this product is no longer available.” Along those lines anyways. That was a huge crushing blow and the game basically got shelved at that point, until many years later I rediscovered it in a box and started searching the web. That’s when I stumbled across the Inn and HQ grew from there.
