DRAGONQUEST BOARD GAME INFO NEEDED...

Postby torilen » December 26th, 2018, 11:26 am

Hey all,
Has anyone here played the old TSR Dragonquest board game? If you have, how close is it,
really, to actual rpg/Dungeons and Dragons game play? How close is it to Heroquest?

I ask because I have some available funds, and I was thinking of getting Dragonquest to play
with my son...9 years old...and my daughter...7 years old. I have thought about this because
I have all three of the old TSR Factory Sets trading cards, which are very compatible with the
board game and could be used to expand it quite a bit.

Thanks for any thoughts and advice.

I own it but haven't looked at it in about 20 years. I can dig it out. As I recall, it is more complex than HeroQuest but not as detailed as AD&D. More like a AD&D dungeon crawl. I think it is good for kids about 12. Younger kids probably won't be interested in rules.

I also have the D&D trading cards and that is a good idea. I bet you could get a 2nd Edition Monstrous Manual and easily convert their stats.

The best thing about Dragon Quest is using the boards to play HeroQuest on.
