Quest Ideas

Was wanting to know if anyone else uses lyrics from songs as inspiration for quests or storylines. I've a habit of actually listening to what words are said and have pulled numerous stories as well as puzzles to use on my gamers. Anyone else do this?

Was also thinking this could be a repository of ideas for anyone that may be struggling for their own.

Funny you should mention that.
The songs "Owlwood" and "Eternal Kingdom" from Cult of Luna got me thinking. The claustrophobia, autoviolence, and delusions of grandeur, as well as the overall state of dubious mental health of the protagonist are a basis for a little quest pack idea of mine. Might never come to fruition, but there's a glint of a sparkle of a hint of an inspiration I don't get so often.

I have an idea for a Quest where you have to protect and escort this spoiled foppish prince through a dungeon.

This is what originally thought me to post

Hail to the king
Hail to the one
Kneel to the crown
Stand in the [dark] (Changed from sun)
Hail to the king

Blood is spilt while holding keys to the throne
Born again but it's too late to atone
No mercy - from the edge of the blade
Dare escape and learn the price to be paid

Let the water flow with shades of red now
Arrows black out all the light
Death is riding into town with armour
They've come to [steal from] you your rights (grant -> steal from)

First paragraph: Describes any domineering king. Doesn't give any specifics away

Second paragraph: I see it as the king committing suicide while reigning for [Insert reason].

Third paragraph: The king sends his minions into town to kill the residents hence stealing their right to live. They couldn't/wouldn't solve his problem so naturally they are against him.

I thought about this while thinking of the Diabloquest and ways of incorporating other storylines and or sidequests to it. Naturally the Skeleton King came to mind and POOF came this thread. Anyone else see how this could fit or am I just stretching a little too far?

there's a song by Gomez called 'Evensong' that i used for a quest pack of the same name, a line from it goes' Sun stop going down'
i used the name for the cathedral the pack was set in and the line eventually led me towards vampires.

Listen to some peter gabriel - particularly secret world live. Some neat lyrics on there give me
ideas all the time. I just haven't been able to figure out how to implement any yet.
