Getting my fix

Postby Nephew of Mentor » March 21st, 2012, 9:36 am

After a few weeks of dutifully watching the boardgame black market, and other sites, I have managed to gather most of the cheapest HQ pieces for my collection. I got the White Dwarf Quests, the Comic(which appears authentic and was cheaper than dirt anyhow), and the three books. I'm still lacking in the Adventures Unlimited quest. Is this one very rare? I have seen issues 4 and 6 but not 5. I know I am basically throwing money away on these, considering I could simply print all of them using the great sources on this site, but this just makes me feel warm inside.

So, for those of you out there that have the Adventures Unlimited 5, where did you get it, how much did you pay, and do you have any advice where I might look for a copy of my own? Let me know, thanks.
Sure it's pretty scary when the witch lord returns but what you should really be afraid of is "Resurrection of the Witch Lord". Resurrected baddies always come back more threatening than ever, usually kind of demonic with wings and horns and hell fire to announce their arrival. Think Gannondorf or Mother Brain from Super Metroid.

I've seen a few AU#5 on eBay in the last couple years. It went for $15-$40 in that time. I found mine online at a comic book Website for $14 plus $5 shipping. It just happened to come up when I searched Google one day a few years ago. The magazine is a rare publication. It was published out of British Columbia and didn't last very long.

Yeah, how long did that magazine last anyhow? It looks like only a year or two.

I just made a killing. I landed three HQ expansions for about $150. I got Kellar's Keep, Wizards of Morcar, and Against the Ogre Horde. Sadly the Ogre Horde is missing most of the Ogres, but I think that is a pretty nice price. i also think It was also a purchase I likely should not have made, haha.

Nice find! I've pretty much resigned myself to recreating the sets from fig diving in the dollar bins at the wargaming stores around here. Thankfully you guys have plenty of great painting pictures and tutorials.
Currently looking for victims errr ummm playgroup in NoVA area or commutable distance.

I didn't think I would be the winning bidder with my price limits, but I am happy it worked out. I did pass on a semi expensive advanced heroquest and a return of the witch lord(which I let the other bidder have for about $10-$20. I'll never find that price again, but even considering I got the game system for free and got such a nice deal on those three expansions I would say I built my collection for a rock bottom price. Now I just have to hope that it rains mage in the mirror and frozen horror minis in the near future, though I may have figured that out.
