Or maybe you're talking about the black smudge around the general area of her mouth!

Anyway, I got some tips (thanks chaoticprime!) and now she looks more like this:

And Jewels is happy with the results :barbarian:

So, just finished printing, cutting and cornering the NA original game cards along with all tiles from all expansions. One thing I didn't realise was Kellar's and Witch had artifact cards for the NA version so I've printed them too. Interesting that they are almost the same sets of cards and both duplicate most of the original spell cards.

I ended up printing tiles onto Avery sticky paper which was stuck onto 600 GSM card and they've turned out excellent. I have only found 250 GSM paper for the cards which isn't quite as heavy as the original cards but I'm fine with that. I shall keep an eye out for something higher though and upgrade them at some point.

I now have two groups playing. One are on the Euro rules and the other are on the NA rules so it'll be interesting to see how they go. One things for sure, both are enjoying it so far so no doubt these printed items will see use.

Just gotta finish the cards from the rest of the expansions.

An experiment, this is based on one of my old characters who never had a mini. Still need to do the base and fix the cloak somehow. I was trying out some cheapo paint (robin's egg blue) and attempting to do some blood on the swords.

Any tips on making her look better?

Hard to see details on small pictures, but I'll try my best :)
OBVIOUS DISCLAIMER: There is no "right" way to paint and people have different opinions on what looks best!

You seem to put dark edges where different objects meet.
While that is generally a good idea, I would recommend using brown where the gold meets the skin.
The black is really clashing with the light skin tone and a brown works good with both skin and gold.
In general be careful with black!

I would also recommend adding "hard" highlights around edges like this:

Aye GK is right.
I'd steer away from using black for lining in around stuff.
It does create a very harsh shadow, a darkish brown is much softer and easier on the eye.

Love the highlight pic GK shows exactly what to do.

In other news I'm thinking about starting a Battlemasters Ogre and another Chaos Warrior.
That is if my steampunk ghost trap doesn't distract me too much like my steampunk proton pack did.

I assume you're using a black undercoat? If so then the easiest way to do what GK suggests is to undercoat black, then paint the skin a brown base layer before then adding the flesh tone on top.

I don't do this myself - I paint the flesh then add a coat of GW's agrax earthshade (formerly devlan mud) wash over the area before then adding the flesh tone again.

Either way gives a brown shade and softens the skin hue

Have to say your painting is coming on in leaps and bounds very quickly! :)

While great results is equally possible with both, I really recommend white undercoating over black for beginners.
Where I see a lot struggle is on bright colours which look "dirty" because the black still shines through.

Minis with lots of metal or grey (textures like cliffs/rocks/fur in particular) benefit from black.
But this one only has the swords and scraps of armor and the hair. The skin and clothing had been easier with a white base.

In general, with black you have to build up light colours a lot more. Try painting yellow over black!
