I think an elf actor should have a narrow face. Bowie has that (and so does Weaving), but Leo DiCap. has a round face, Orlando Bloom does too to be honest. Just stick pointy ears on Bowie, and long hair, and you have an elf.

I'd say Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller. Would be a real guilty pleasure for me to seem them die gruesomly by the sword on screen.

Bowie certainly had that prototype elf face, but I still think he looks too old now. On principle, one would envision an elf with a rather narrow face, but there's more about it. Leo di Caprio's and Orlando Bloom's faces are not as thin as Bowie's, but I wouldn't call them "round". Bloom is not the best actor out there, but he performed a convincing elf, and I think, di Caprio would do it superbely.

I won't comment on Tom Cruise as an actor in general, as I don't want to have a heated debate in a fun thread.
Speaking only about his face, you may be right. It's of the narrow type and he is - and looks - at least younger than Bowie. But I still would think di Caprio looks closer to the HQ elf (plus, being a better actor by a four-figure factor).
