1 - Go here: http://colorschemedesigner.com/
2 - Choose your base color--you said "trees," so let's go with some kind of green. I picked RGB #0CC00.
3 - Click on the bottom tab 'Adjust Scheme.' Click in the dialog box marked "-custom-", and pick "Medium Dark (Saturated)."
4 - In the above area where you see the circular scheme types, click the one marked 'Triad."

5 - Collect paints matching your final color scheme--it will be depicted in the upper right.
6 - Base object you want to pain in black, and then heavy drybrush the dark green, medium drybrush the magenta, light drybrush the orange, and then feather the last green.
7 - Add white feathering to increase opacity or Ink wash purple to decrease it, and increase contrast.

That is your color scheme for creating depth.

That's pretty nifty. The analogic setting gives some interesting combinations too.

Once you start learning new things you notice stuff you never did before. Same thing happened to me when having to grade the sloping around me house. I started noticing all the high and low spots in the streets and see the sloping on everything. It was really weird. Anyways ask her if she'd be interested in 'bone structure analysis' with you and report her reaction.

yeah it could be a lot worse! its quite sad the things we do. when i first started doing 3d digital modelling many many moons ago. back then games models were pretty much squares because we had to keep the polygon limits down. id find myself going into a trance figuring out how i could make a detailed face but still keep the polygons down. it was awful especially in the pub when the barmaid is calling my name to pay for my beer and im trancing out in amazement because i figured out how to make her face in 62 polys...................see....sad!!!!

I'll never be a fanboy of pinup minis. Not my thing but a lot of skill went into that.

I'd have to second that for knightkrawler.

I always applaud a sculpt that manages to convey a vague suggestion toward me that the sculptor has, indeed, seen a real woman in his life.

You're into minis when:

You go against your own better decision and get more when you already have enough to keep you painting for longer than you'll admit.

*Giggle* I've got some more little treasures coming... Shhhh! It'll be our secret and I'll share them when they come home.

... you make 16 HeroQuest hero templates and to represent every one of those you go and look for and buy:
a) male version 1
b) female version 1
c) male or female version 2
d) whatever your player likes for that hero

I have 60 potential hero miniatures and 12 more are on my next shopping list.

a) standard male version
b) standard female version topless female version
c) topless female version safe female version I keep around for prudish gamers ;)
