You can have my copy. I don't actually own one, however. So ponder over that.

I've been researching a bit, and while I think it would be great,
I really hope no one here is getting their hopes up. Some problems I find are here:
1 - The rumor comes from one website - every other mention of it I can find all point back to this one site.
2 - the author of this site is strangely silent on his own site after posting the news. Why?
3 - the author of this site states that HE possibly convinced them to make the board reversible?? Really? I doubt that.
4 - There is one other website in which the writer says he contacted the company to verify the truth of the rumor, but doesn't give any
....proof of this..no quote from an email, no name of someone who called him...nothing.

For what it is worth, I have just sent an email to the company's webmaster. I'll let you know if I get anything back.
However, I would think that news like this would be much more widespread from the company itself...not simply from one single website
that is quoted by everyone else. Especially considering that it has been said that this new version is supposed to come out next year.
Gamezone would have been working on this for at least a year or two by now, and would have put something out somewhere, even at a
game conference, perhaps, in which case, that news would be everywhere.

Two last thoughts - It has been said that the rules will be similar, but will still be different - so again, I don't know how high I would get my
hopes on an actual HQ remake. Also - there is the possibility that something has been misunderstood, and Gamezone is only making minis
in the fashion of HQ minis. That would make a lot more sense to me, since that is all the company does now.

Lool, it's funny because i actually though of that too yesterday. I also think it is nothing but a big superchery! Every news about that so called heroquest remake comes from one website. I tried to search back the image by reverze googling them on gamezone's website and found nothing. I just think those artwork have been stolen from other boardgame. Might try to google image them on boardgamegeek and be suprised!

Dont't you think those image would have actually be released by gamezone, and not some random guy on the internet?

I fear sadly hat our eloved heoquest will no longer see light but in our dreams ;)

You know, all of those who are so excited about this...We can do a kickstarter for our own HQ remake.
Anyone involved can split whatever funds come in from actual sales if we get it done, with 20% or so going
to the inn, to help with whatever drathe needs in keeping this site running.

We have more than enough people who are good with writing rules and quests, and there are several people
on here who cast their own resin minis, and several who are good enough with creating tiles and such that
we could even redo our own furniture pieces (if one wanted to do those from heavy cardboard).

Just a thought.

As I said in my previous thread, I can’t understand why to use the same name for a new game? If everyone can produce minis (in large amount) and create a nice board with some good quests, why to not make a new boardgame? The system (mind, body points, move & hit, hit & move, search for traps, search for treasures, artifacts, etc) and the values of character stats for the heroes and the monsters can be the same, he can even put elves and make something like the elven pack.

Something that could sell for a good profit worldwide with no problem (if the quests are good).

Well, unless I am mistaken - it has been a while since I've looked at the product - the actual name
HeroQuest is being used by moon design for their rpg, set in Glorantha - as seen here:

http://www.glorantha.com/product/heroquest-core-rules/

I am not sure if they still own the rights...again, it has been a good while since I've looked into them.

Personally, I would think creating a different name would be best for any group that strives for this. Using
the name HeroQuest, people will expect the same quests, and probably all of the expansions as well - I know
I would.

Using a new name, you can make your own quest packs, even if they are extremely similar to the originals,
and you can come up with your own background, setting, etc. And should it become a big hit, you wouldn't
be constrained by the original materials, you can simply add to it as much as you want.

If you redid all the original quest packs, and it was a hit seller, people might become VERY suspicious if a brand
new quest pack showed up on the market.

A new name would allow you to make sure things are nice and consistent, as well. Instead of using two different names
for the evil wizard, for example (which, no one would be able to use Zargon or Morcar anyhow - but you see my point).

But the name IS important. There's a huge difference if it's motherfreaking Hero Quest or merely a game inspired by Hero Quest.
If anyone has played Dungeon Keeper and has tried to recapture that joy with newer "inspired by" games, you'll know exactly how I feel.
Besides, being a known and loved brand gives an edge against competing no-name games.

What I would desire from an official HQ remake would be for it to basically have the same rules, except less vague and more coherent.
I don't care if the quests are the same or not. Maybe just use the basic storyline, but re-imagine the quests.
I would desire high quality board and cards etc.
I think I would prefer the classic aesthetics for the miniatures, but I don't believe that will ever happen.

I haven't played Heroquest in a while because I discovered Warhammer Quest. Both have pro's and cons. Both I would love to see a mix of them. We're currently working on a revised version of Heroquest which seriously pumps up the wizard and uses a modular board (like Warhammer). It also makes the rules more coherent and it will introduce a better leveling system.
