Oh and a double sided board, one side with the original layout and one all new. NOT like AHQ and WH Quest with just tiles, tiles go on the board! Furniture is also very important for that HQ feel.

I highly doubt that. It would basically be just for us. :)

No, I sayd BARAK TOR!!!

Anyway, guys the correct title is "HeroQuest Legacies", not legacy.
It is also possible they have in mind to release the unpublished expansions only and not the whole game. Who knows?
Ohhh another consideration... are we sure they are going to release something about our HeroQuest? Maybe they are going to doa seguel for the game by Moon Design, not by MB/Hasbro. :o

My apologies, Barak Tor.

Just the same... wishful thinking.

This wouldn't work if the box cover was cartoonish with disproportionate heads and spindly arms (Sorry, Munchkin). They used professional artwork to guide the mood instead of something my 13 year old daughter could have drawn up.

That's actually one of the reasons that I couldn't get into Advanced HeroQuest when I was younger. I mean that and the rules were complicated and I had no one left to play with at that time. But that cartoony box art for AHQ really turned me off. I bought it because I was fascinated and wanted anything that was more HeroQuest, but that art really soured me right from the start.

I'm not familiar with Restoration Games but from the looks of it they're professional enough but not too corporate. About the best we could hope for.

Actually the best I hope for is that they get Tre Manor of Red Box Games to do the miniatures. He's done some suitable ones before, like these Chaos Warriors, these Zombies, this Barbarian or this Wizard. Granted you'd want him to go a little less fine and detailed for a boardgame. The main thing is his designs are old school without being retro. 2020 quality without 2020 aesthetics.

I agree they should keep the rules simple and effective. There's certainly some tweaks to be made but I wouldn't want it turned into more of an RPG. Or more of a tactical challenge. If you want to do some serious gaming HQ isn't it.

The same goes for the story. HQ was great at suggesting an epic Fantasy adventure with just a few bits of text. Like I love how you get really invested in the Witch Lord as a villain, just because he comes back and you need to get a special sword to kill him. But you don't get a full backstory for him and they never explain the Spirit Blade. HQ shouldn't have "lore".

Now that wouldn't break the game. Chaos warriors could easiy just be renamed to something like dark knights. Fimirs would be missed but they could add other monsters. There's actually very little really in HQ that's GM, it's quite generic. I would be a shame if they couldn't use the term chaos though, it just feels right.

GW took Chaos straight out of Michael Moorcock's books (the Elric ones in particular) so that shouldn't be a problem. I think the only things specifically Warhammer in HQ are the Fimir, the design of the Gargoyle and a couple of place names. Nothing essential.

The Fimir were never mentioned as part of the story (at least in the European version). Personally I'd swap them out for a type of Orc, like the Uruk-hai in The Lord of the Rings. Better armoured, more sinister, maybe with a visual link to the Chaos Warriors.

Unfortunately I don't have any original HQ minis anymore. I found a set of minis fairly inexpensively through a Kickstarter and was planning on using these as substitutes. There's a Death Knight that I thought would work well for Chaos Warriors, and I was thinking of replacing Fimir with Bugbears.

If you had to choose something else, what other type of monsters do you think would work as a replacement for Fimir?

Troll maybe, it could be green. Not really a replacement though, more of a boss type early on and best normal monster in later quests. They could just basically use fimir, give them two eyes, a normal tail and call them Reptilians or something.

This time if they do KK and RotWL type expansion it should have new monsters. Snotlings, Black/Savage/Big'un Orcs, Troll. Ghouls, Wraiths, Vampire.

While the topic of "wish lists" for a remake is cool and all... I personally keep checking back in on THIS particular thread not wanting to miss out on any ACTUAL with respect to Restoration Games.

So far we have only that a name is registered. And we all know any meaningful copyright release for a proper HeroQuest remake will require both GW and MB to agree. Until we hear more from Restoration Games it is safe to say that it will not be happening. Perhaps these other discussions can move to another thread? Or perhaps we can change the name of this thread to be "Restoration Games Registered HeroQuest" and we will get a new thread for each bit of news?

Off-topic: @elvyler : as GB basically pointed out, the easy generic replacement for Fimir would be Lizard Men. If you got them in a slightly larger scale (32mm) they would even look the part of a 3 BP monster relative to your orcs. Good luck completing your set!

Will it need GW though? They only own chaos and fimir, and chaos is debatable. It's like space marine, they had the nerve to coppyright that but it's a useless coppyright because it's generic.

:fimir: are actually only 2BP, in the US version where monster have multiple BP.

The thing about fimir that made them different from lizardmen is completely humanoid bodies, it would be nice if they kept that to keep the fimir feel. But yea, lizardmen if not, and they could be green.

Who knows what kind of partnership agreement was signed back in the day. Anyway, I'm not a lawyer. Restoration Games is a real company with a history of re-doing real games. If they have a press release, I will believe what I read there.

Yeah, sadly it has been too long since I last played. I think your signature had influenced my memory of the stats!

Agreed, for a re-do you could do anything. I was responding to elvyler's request for an immediate proxy in his current game system where bugbears where proposed. Lizardmen however seems like the path of least resistance... just grab a few champions, done.

Lizardmen is a great idea, I don't know why I didn't think of that earlier. Definitely makes more sense than bugbears, I guess I can save those bugbears for something else!
