i've often thought that myself - unfortunately they call that trapping, which is apparently illegal.
You have to do it in person, and make sure they stay inside the house afterward. Then you're safe

True, true... that's when you let them get inside the house. And then you just flat out shoot them. In all honesty if someone breaks in and I'm there that's what I'm going to do. I'm not going to give them a warning. I'm just going to shoot them, they should know they don't belong in there. And no one's going to break down your door for any other reason except to steal something.

It's also illegal to shoot a bear in the wild. I think that if a bear is damn well charging me down, I'm going to say hang the law and stay the hell ALIVE!

You'd better believe I'd shoot a bear. No way I'm letting that thing try and eat me. Hell, I'd chuck a grenade at it in order to survive.

I'm pretty sure Self-Defence works in the case of bears, too. As long as you can prove you weren't hunting bears. Wear a couple deer hides in Court to help make your case.

Or you could just say it broke into your house and you shot it... though I like your idea better.

That's just it tough. They practically live in the middle of nowhere. I could understand in the city.

Good point. It still bugs the crap out of me though. I mean they should just go get a job like everyone else.

A co-worker of mine, had his vehicle broken into. The took music cd's, flashlight, odds and ends etc...
But (heres the kicker) they took the time to write a note thanking him for having a nice music selection. (to steal)

And another one of my friends had his garage broken into, they opened almost every box, cabnet, drawers, and even in and out of the 2 vehilces parked inside and loaded up all the stuff they were going to steal and set it by the garage door in piles. They made off most of the stuff, but must have been scared off on their return due to the fact a large pile was left behind. Police came and took statements etc... and my friend remembers the police officer statement "they must been a younger group of kids robbing you, or a group of kids that did not like good music. LOL he had CD's mostly of 80's rock n roll. None touched ....
