I read this great article about the failure rate of Kickstarters.
It seems a lot of them either fizzle out or their products come up short.

In regards to both the potato salad KS, and this 50 shades of vorpal KS, I don't know what exactly you'd call it (dadaist? anti-aesthetic? post-post modern??) but it really projects this charismatic slacker vibe that people are happy to throw money at to be in on the joke.

That's what I meant by meta-meta. They're not just in on the joke, they are also the matter of the joke. They think they are so clever... Like a bad stand-up comedian laughing about his own jokes while the crickets are chirping. And I'm talking about both project initiators and funders here.
