Thanks a lot. I have skulls finished now, but will take some time to upload fotos. Arms are still a problem - I try another printing company now.

Yeah, I love them too. Have got the whole set (six of them) for my vampire army. Still have to paint them, though ( there are other projects I have to finish first).

Here's one sold by Thunderbolt Mountain, sculpted by its owner--who is also the guy who first started using "green stuff" to sculpt fantasy miniatures with, Tom Meier. Hand-sculpted by the best person there is sculpting miniatures.

When you work with sculptors, they explain things like how the scale of hands to faces is understandably abstract in miniature sculpting. The closer to realistic hands and faces the sculpt gets, essentially the better the skill that was involved in its making.

One could explain than more realistically one mini is sculpted weaker it will looks from a distance. So it explain why the GW miniatures are striking on the tabletop and why they make it bigger and bigger. The skill of a sculptor isn't sculpt something realistic but make it appropriate for the use of this miniatures in the timelapse accorded and casting friendly. That's the real job of a sculptor. Nonentheless Tom is one of the greatest sculptor of miniatures.

It depends on if the purpose of the art is to simulate or to abstract. The important part being, that skill with simulating will certainly apply to making things abstract--you cannot even understand abstraction until you understand reality. Tom sculpts what he sculpts, but I bet he can sculpt whatever anyone else has, too. His particular choice of design surely emphasizes skill with simulation, but that's just design. Designing a miniature and then sculpting it are two separate art-forms that compliment each other, but are by no means the same. The functionality of a game piece is its most important quality--its an integral part of an engine that will not run without it. But, the upper limit of functionality will always falter before the actual skill used when every aspect of a miniature is under scrutiny. Kev Adams' signature style is functional as functional gets, and charming to boot. But Kev Adams couldn't duplicate the level of skill that Tom Meier has. I am positive that Tom Meier could reproduce anything Kev Adams did.
