Screaming Spectre and the inbook game beyond the worlds edge

The Screaming Spectre HeroQuest novel by Dave Morris 1992 by Corgi Books contains:
the Screaming Spectre main story of 70 pages, where Archimage Magnus has befallen a strange ailment, while the previous long dead Archimage Balthazar has been seen again in the halls by one of the three apprentices Osric, Kashor, and Baskaino. With the help of the manservant Mercutio, they must find the cause. The past fate of Balthazar and his Spectre could very well doom his predecessor or is another plotting revenge?

"HEROQUEST ADVENTURE GAME" titled: beyond the World's Edge a solitaire adventure for a wizard, a choose your own adventure style story where the reader's choices send you to different pages. The HeroQuest spells and basic combat mechanics are there for your use as well as the use of one of talismans of bravery (+1 combat), festination (+1 speed), vigour (+1 body),or will (+1 mind)
Loss in combat or poor decision making can lead to your death. There are more deaths or grim ends than the adv. game in
The Fellowship of the Four novel and it is longer at 109 pages or so. Still, most choices eventually lead to the conclusion.
The basic plot ( mild spoilers) you are apprenticed to Archimage Theodosius who has disappeared beyond the world's edge mountains into a region known as the abyss. A magical distress message sends you to rescue your wayward master. Upon completion you receive your Diploma of Wizardry as adeptus magicus. Similar basic plot I.E. Wizard apprentice quests after Missing master to the first novel, but overall different, and an interesting read
Monsters introduced:
vespertile
Attercob
Hydra
Spriggan
Phantoms
Hantu
Gatekeeper (living armor)
Basilisk
Evil priest
Ravens
Penanggalans
War dog ( metal hound)
Living statues

That they do. :skeleton: the monsters in the game book story have body points and combat value points, you must roll dice using your combat score or spells to defeat them.
