I actually would love to find the actual books. But the PDFs would be cool in the mean time.

I have the original novels but the PDFs are cool for doing text searches and such for those lore obsessed. The articles he wrote on the topic are fascinating as a look behind the scenes of their creation.

Dave Morris (the author of the three HQ novels) emailed me back with the google download link for his novel when I requested it. I suggest others do the same through his fabled lands blog.

Thanks for posting the link. It took a little digging around to find his contact info. I am enjoying watching/listening to your interactive read through of these novels.

edit: Hey, Kurgan, how long did it take for him to respond? Also, is ladybird still active? Trying to get access to the google files.

Thank you very much! Been looking for these for a while. And Dave Morris' retelling of the process pf writing these is really insightful: how could such a bad managed game became so mythic? Maybe due to it's lack of definition and a lore from which we just get glimpses... no doubt a fertile field for young imagination. This confirms that Heroquest has become what it is because of the fans.

I don't recall. At first I thought he was ignoring me after weeks went by, but then I checked my other email address that I don't look through very often and realized he'd responded fairly quickly, like within a few days. The links were good so I figured he's still kicking and helping out his fans, which is great. [ oops sorry forgot the name of the OP!]

Interesting insight Jordstag. We're #1! We're #1! But seriously a lot of franchises out there that were once great have fallen off due to mismanagement of some kind, or the faith was lost in them by the owners, and it was the fans who did the hard work to keep them alive or bring them back, so some credit is due there, and the owners of IP that understand and respect this power to harness it for new profits are probably the ones who will do the best! Since the novels were an ancillary product though I doubt that they would have sunk the franchise if they were done wrong. If anything they add to the lore and look how excited people are here to find them again even those who have no nostalgia for them not having been kids in the UK at the time they were first published? I've really enjoyed reading/playing/reviewing them on twitch (HeroQuestFans).

Anyway kudos to Dave Morris and authors like him who know what's up. |_P (the creators of Lone Wolf, one of them no longer with us, RIP Joe Dever, were pretty cool too)

The links are no longer active.
Could we please have them posted again or PMed?

As a long HQ lover, never had the chance to go through them and now I am into the HQ lore.

Thanks

All the links still work for me. Maybe you have to be logged into Google to access them...?
