beautiful painting Goblin King. I love the way you painted the Marine Stats Bar thing! I imagine it is a combination of drybrushing and inks????

I love the way you have made the bases as well; it makes all the difference. What you need to do is get a print out of the HD base I put up a link to in another thread. Also there are rules for Tyranids...I will fish them out, upload them and plonk a link up :)

Hey Goblin King here are the old official White Dwarf articles. It introduces Tyranids, Orks, Space Marine Scouts and Terminators among other things :) This should give you a good start introducing your Tyranids :)

Think page is not in English but the scans are in English :)

In regards to miniature painting in general, I'll add one piece of wisdom:
It's outrageously satisfying to paint something black without using any black paint.

Would I be right in thinking you make it like Artists Brown. A little of all three primary colours? :)

Basically, yes, but I simplify it by using a dark brown and a dark blue.
The mix-in color for highlights depends on material, texture, and other factors.
I'll put in a tad of dark green for black used leather in the base mix, for example, and use a khaki to lighten it up. And I'll stipple the highlights for this.

Indeed. Basecoat of Bleached Bone (or whatever GW calls it these days), a wash of Agrax Earthshade/Devlan Mud. Then ANOTHER wash of AE/DM! Finally a drybrush of Bleached Bone.[/quote]

Also some nice looking sets Bruno. Very retro with the green sand/flock |_P

Right now I'm stuck with the Gretchen. I can't stand painting 14 of the same model... What a chore!

Your stuff looks totally ace GK, really love the player counters in particular...so Gieger!
As for the Goblin Green bases, I couldn't help it- I mostly play (2nd ed) 40K and while it was very tempting to go for grey, space hulk bases I also weighed up the fact that I would most often be using these minis in 40K on a green table rather than in Space Crusade.
I sort of regret my cartoony style seeing how good minis like yours are.

I got carried away with posting pics and forgot my Blood Angel color scheme:

*undercoat white
*basecoat evil sunz scarlet
*wash with watered down agrax earthshade (devlan mud)
*touch up with evil sunz scarlet
*highlight with blazing/trollslayer orange
