curiosity about how each member came to this forum prompted an inquiry.
How did you find the HeroQuest fan community here at yeoldeinn.com?

I was looking for HeroQuest player generated content to pirate for my game table and searches brought me here
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

I was surfing the old Agin's Inn website since its early days, then discovered the forum.
For some reason I registered to Oldscratch forum but not to this one until 2017.

A heroquest Facebook group I was in a few years back recommended this site for reprinting items.

Agin's Inn fan from many, many years ago. Then sometime in 2013 or so, I started looking around for the old site and found Ye Olde Inn... Lurked for a bit before finally joining. Not as active as I was, but I still come back on occasion.

Internet search. Around 2002 my brother and I (who grew up playing his set) dusted it off and started looking online for info/fan stuff and found the Inn. Didn't get into the forums at that time.
I think the first things we printed off were the Hasbro photocopies (giving our first glimpse of the NA exclusive quest packs beyond that flyer tease) and the "Combat Cards."

I didn't get involved in the forum until over a decade later and signed up nearly 2 years ago, mainly to get feedback on some of my own ideas (after seeing so many great ideas from others!).

Lurking... then working! |_P

Honestly at this point, it's such a wealth of info, I would burn the forum on a cd if I could!

Long ago in a galaxy far far away, I searched for HeroQuest on Lycos in Netscape Navigator, and then have had a link to Ye Olde Inn in every browser since then.

Postby drathe » December 13th, 2020, 10:04 pm

It all started many years ago after I created a personal Website showcasing some of my favourite hobbies. I had a little forum where friends could gather to discuss some of our common interests in our own little space. I had a HeroQuest section and showcased some of the quests I designed. Then, out of the blue, a new member joined and introduced themselves. Phoenix.

Phoenix was also a big fan of HeroQuest and we had many discussions about HeroQuest and other things. Phoenix introduced me to Old Scratch's forum and I joined up after he recreated one of my Quest Packs titled Vengeance for Vengeance and posted a link to it on Old Scratches for other HeroQuest fans to enjoy. I slowing became more involved in the HeroQuest community, then something huge happened. Agin's Inn, the foremost HeroQuest resource Website at the time went offline...

I was a long-time browser of Agin's Inn and was saddened when it went offline like so many others. Back then, I had tonnes of free time and decided to do what I could to keep as much of the resources available for HeroQuest fans. Too many HeroQuest fansites were falling into the void in cyberspace so I decided to try building a HeroQuest Website of my own and sought out many of the original content contributors of Agin's Inn for permission to host their work on the new Website, which was an added extension to my personal Webpage at the time. As the new Ye Olde Inn grew in both old and new content, Ye Olde Inn was moved to its own domain and a dedicated community forum was added. It's been nearly 13 years since then... and we're still growing!

I don't often have time to visit the Inn these days, but I'm always amazed at all the activity. Who would have thought a board game from 30 years ago would have a thriving community, devoted to expanding and keeping it alive after all these years?
