Davids Heroquest Paint Set

Hi everyone, im about 15 minutes new to the forum and VERY excited as I have just picked up a part complete Heroquest!

YAY ME!!!!!!

Im going to my local game shop in the morning to build up the paint set ive already been given an could really use some pointers.
Im looking to get a complete set of paints to paint up the basic heroquest minis and furniture.
The paints I have been given are all Citadel and as thats all my local game shops sells thats what ill be picking up tomorrow, please let me know what you think I should purchase in the morning.

Are there any gaping holes in my set that need filling? Off the bat I can see im missing a basic white.....
Any and all advice is massivly appreciated!

You should add two blues, one medium (Macragge Blue) and one dark or light.
Buy Caliban Green.
Buy Reikland Fleshshade and Seraphim Sepia, possibly also Nuln Oil.
And Rhinox Hide, Averland Sunset, Retributor Armor and a lighter gold/brass you like.

If you're undecided between two colors in your hand, buy the one that says "Base" on its label. It's easier for beginners.

You need white to lighten up some of the more saturized primary and secondary color.
Other than that I think you have a solid start there.
Don't always mix in just black to darken and white to lighten. Try different darks and lights, anything goes until you learn how to mix more intuitively and precisely.
Mix your purples and violets from your reds and blues,
your oranges from yellows and reds,
your turquoises from blues and greens.

...... Time to strip the cacky paint off these minis an get basecoating!

You don't need anything else. The only thing that strikes me as difficult doing with what you have
is a solid yellow but you can cross that bridge when you stand in front of it.

The color wheel (RGB system) is your friend.

Is YRIEL YELLOW no good for this or do I need a base paint yellow as opposed to a layer?

Yriel is very light, and to get it darker without desaturizing it too much, you need to carefully add
an ochre or a red without making it too brown or too orange.

But that shouldn't be a big problem because such a glaring yellow is not a very natural color.
If you don't paint Imperial Fists, it's unimportant.
Even the Tunic of the HQ Wizard as seen on the box art shouldn't be a problem.

When you paint yellow over black primer, make sure you first basecoat in steps to a medium or light brown to get good coverage with the yellow.

For my wizard, I remember using a white base, followed by an application of Bleached Bone (I think it was renamed to Ushabti Bone), and highlighted it with a thick pasty stuff that I think was called Moon Yellow. Looks very much like the game art, in my opinion.
