What did you use to make the floor tiles?

Was just cut squares of plastic card that were all made roughly the standard size of the spaces of the HeroQuest board, with a little bit more generous spacing in between them. The edges are all cut with an X-Acto knife and about a 45° angle holding the tile carefully and shaving random size pieces off the edge as I cut towards myself. Then they are just hot glued down to the foam. I find if you’re not careful when painting the tiles can look really crappy this way. If you don’t want to try to rough surface and make them more regular then we have to be extra careful with your brush strokes. After that I’ll prime and do a little bit of shading for a basecoat. I try to make that as even as possible and then I dry brush diagonal to the orientation of the tiles and then dry brush again at 90° so all of the crosshatching brush strokes are in a pattern that doesn’t line up with the orientation of the tiles and it distracts the eye so that you don’t really notice how flat the tiles all are. Easy for doing really big areas dungeon floor. Most of the time goes into carving up the edges of the tiles.
