The guidline for this years exchange is the well known procedure by tasoe.
For those who aren't familiar with it, read the following:

Procedure by tasoe
1. People sign up here and I collect the names/addresses up via pm until the end of September.
2. I make a draw so each participant has someone to send to and someone (other) to receive from. (Ideally a non-participant can make the draw for me as I want my sender to be a surprise).
3. People paint something for their recipient, and send it by the end of November.
4. People receive their gift in December and post pictures of them.

Rules:
1. Participants have to PAINT a heroquest figure / a figure fitting into HeroQuest (I guess this is the consensus?)
2. Participants are NOT to reveal their recipient or their sender, until everyone has received their figure.
3. Participants are expected to commit to this. If they can't do it for certain, then they shouldn't sign up.

Guidelines:
1. Regarding rule 1, I say that the painting part is mandatory. If someone wants to convert something as well it is allowed of course, but the finished result should be painted up.
2. Don't feel like you have to paint something exquisite and that if you are not that good then you shouldn't join in. It's a fun thing and the level of the painted figures is irrelevant. Just paint however you can. It's always been that way, you can read the comments of the previous exchanges.
3. If you finish your figure way earlier than the deadline, hold on to it and send it near the end of November. In any case, please DO NOT post any photo of a received figure before November 30.
4. It's customary to paint your name under the base of the figure you're sending.

So far, the participants are:

Geofonos
tasoe
Anderas
knightkrawler
figomurphy
Thantos
Jackyboy
sparkymark
TMU
Goblin-King
lestodante
wolfie907
Spiky

Come on then, I need more lads for this. It has to be Ultra Epic this year. |_P |_P |_P

I totally agree with everything and also trust lestodante,
the only participant who isn't that active. He has been in the Italian forum, so he won't just disappear or anything.
lestodante, you're in as far as I'm concerned.

To evaluate, in the past it has sometimes been a prerogative that someone or everyone could "vouch" for a participant.
Posting once or twice with huge periods of time in between, for example, is not a sign for a member who'll commit.

I love the participant list, but more are very welcome, of course.

A thought that crossed my mind... As there seem to be a certain core group of people who participate each year, would it make sense to make sure you can't get a mini from one you already own a mini from?
As much as I would love to get another mini from tasoe, I think it's more fun to get from different people each year.

Thoughts? Is it just me? And can it actually logistically be done?

I think its doable. We'll just have to wait and see if any other forum members join us and we can arrange some specific no-no's when making the draw

I actually did that in the 4th exchange, which was the first one to have a lot of the same people involved and there was a risk of sending to the same person again.
tasoe in the 2015 exchange wrote:Also:
1. A person won't be able to send to a person that he's sent in a previous exchange. That way we'll circulate the thing and members will get to be more personal with differents members than before.
2. I won't be able to draw Ulver or vice versa, because he's my brother and it would be kind of pointless to send to him.

I remember sending a detailed list to StratosVX with restrictions from the previous exchanges, and he made the draw accordingly. It may be a bit difficult now, with 5 exchanges preceding this one, but it's doable.
Also, if anyone would like to add restrictions for matching that could take the fun away, I say go ahead. My brother won't be participating this time, but I wouldn't want to send to billdask (if he joins in) whose place is 15' away from my place, or Geofonos who is a close friend that I talk to almost everyday and we discuss what we're gonna paint and send as we did in the previous one etc. I don't know which members here are close to each other in person, but if anyone wants to suggest some similar restriction perhaps we should take it into account.

Great idea!

Well, I better get my painting kit out then. I'm in, if I can paint a non HQ figure. I have none left to give away I'm afraid. But I have plenty of other minis that will fit in nicely. And of course it'll have the classic rimmed EU HQ base (TM).
