Your Japanese-formatted rulebook sounds like a fantastic offering! Since AerynB relied much on Google translate and an online Japanese/English dictionary (p. 21 was particularly troublesome), you may also want to reference another translation by Bob-Bob and his friend bluesun who speaks Japanese. If you missed it, you can find it starting at this post.

Hi, thank you. I will try to also check it.

For the moment, here is the draft version I have prepared of the first 3 pages of the manual:

Great work thanks.

I am really looking forward to the translation of the Talisman of Lore artefact as none of the ones I have so far seen make a great deal of sense to me

Essentially its a totally different artifact, despite having the same name and image, it's the familiar "Talisman of Lore" in name only. Nobody playing the game in Japan would have been confused by this since there was no other HQ edition available to compare to.

Instead of giving you 1 or 2 extra Mind Points, it resurrects the one holding it if he dies (or can resurrect the whole party in the case of a disastrous quest outcome).

Hence many home brewers have made little changes to differentiate it, like calling it the "Amulet of Life" or similar.

p.3 wrote:First, you should just learn the beginner game rules. When the first chapter is completed, we will use the intermediate rules. When the second chapter is completed, we will continue the quests with the advanced rules.

"We" feels strange, as if the rules writer is personified. I'd think it better to change we>you. Then the first sentence.will agree with the last two.

The NA rulebook does speak at times as if it's Mentor (or even Zargon) talking to the reader, so that's not necessarily wrong, but I'd have to see the greater context.

I'm not confused between the two versions. I am fully aware that they are totally different. The Japanese version just seems odd and I have seen different attempted translations of it. I am just interested as to what this newest translation will say.

Is this actually a new translation though? I thought he was just matching the new text up with the illustrations in the original document. So a reformatting, not a re-translation. Right?
