A friend of mine plays a 'steampunk' theme game, cant remember what its called, which uses magnets on the weapons.
It works really well, and being a geology grad, I'm a big fan of magnetite

Still the mold needs some work (the mold line of the head is very big) but this is my first ogre :)

I am afraid the super glue is necessary, because the metal is heavy, and this will be a problem for the mercenaries. I hope their weapons are not as heavy as the ogre’s parts. We will see... :?

If I cast it as a simple mini I have to spend three times more material, and in my opinion the super glue is not a problem. With one drop in the hole of the connection between the torso and the back, and one for the head is enough. But also I coundn't do it because I want to make them as close to the originals as possible (i.e. the moving hands).

Well, I don't understand why it would cost more material, but then again, I don't know how to cast pewter, so you're probably right ;)

Larger molds will require more material for one. A solid body will also use more material for the actual mini. It would end up being one heavy miniature too.

If I understand correctly, the ogres have been cast as semi hollow minis. So, if they were cast all as one piece they would not be hollow, thus the extra weight. I hope that is correct and helpful.
Sure it's pretty scary when the witch lord returns but what you should really be afraid of is "Resurrection of the Witch Lord". Resurrected baddies always come back more threatening than ever, usually kind of demonic with wings and horns and hell fire to announce their arrival. Think Gannondorf or Mother Brain from Super Metroid.

Yes, the original Ogres come in five pieces. Two arms, head, front with legs, and a back piece. Their middles are hollow.

And if you don't glue them, the arms rotate in their sockets. Which means he can whack Heroes on the head with his club. I thought that was the pinnacle of miniature design at age eleven. (Well... second place. Fully destructable Space Crusade dreadnought takes the top spot. 8-) )
