So far, it's WAY too expensive, and the stretch goals, er....

1. Monster cards.. a stretch goal!?!? They're supposed to be IN the CORE game!
2. captive knight (and female knight). well... Ragnar I suppose, but meh.
3. boulder trap. Man, ANYONE can and probably already has made this.
4. blank spell cards? WTH do I need those for? I draw on the blank side? If i photoshop my custom cards, I need to print them anyway, so I could just as easily scan the other card backs and print those too.
5. see 2.

5 stretches in, and nothing good at all. pff. I'm not impressed. and €110,- is rediculous. I can buy Wrath of Ashardalon + Castle Ravenloft (or Drizzt) from D&D together for that money. 2 miniature and tile-filled boardgames. TWO!!!

And this just pisses me off:

Is this an official product?

Yes, we have the rights over the HeroQuest brand in Spain according to the strict European regulations.

Hell no! This is not even CLOSE to OFFICIAL HEROQUEST! At least admit that you c*nts.

Will I be able to buy this game next year?

Gamezone’s online direct sale to worldwide's custormers is granted (for both Kickstarter and afterwards).

Custormers? Yup, this game will have plenty of spelling faults. "Take the whole stretch goals". Ugh...
And why on Earth did they use CAD? They're Spanish, use Euro's you dolts.

For funding miniatures game, there are very few pictures of actual miniatures... ill likely back it later with more SGs being unveiled. Looks like there is no maximum cap on backers, so no reason not to wait in my opinion.

Miniatures need proper bases ;)

I was looking at my kickstarter settings trying to understand why the currency was showing in CAD! :D It makes it hard for me to work out how much 'real' money (Read GBP) I'd have to pay

I'm undecided about backing at the moment, like Thantos I think I'll see how the stretch goals go for a bit longer first

Been reading some comments. People are bashing this KS man lol. Talking about how bad it is, lame stretches, CAD currency, huge shipping costs, zero communication (shocker!), and about dropping to $1 to see what happens.

*grins*

I'd like to see what they think about this thread. Could a backer link to it in the comments section?

I had a look in the kickstarter page of this thing - Has anyone noticed something wrong about the board?
I'm talking about the whole thing being upside down. The space where it should say HeroQuest at one edge of the board is supposed to be in the opposite edge (my clue is the two small rooms/cells).
Second, has anyone taken a closer look at the corridors surrounding the central room? Is this thing for real?

Some of the models are different too!

Ahem.

Sorry for the snark. Yeah, some things are changing. The board is not identical. (The reverse side is outdoors, apparently). I'm not completely sure of the benefit of that myself (in particular, a weird-shaped central room seems like a strange choice) but the way I see it, you can pick up something exactly the same as the original HeroQuest (ie. pick up the original HeroQuest) on eBay, if you've not got it already. I hope they do at least stick to the principles and spirit of the original, or else they might as well have released a different game... but I fully expect them to make tweaks.

Personally I hate the changed central corridor and rooms. I mean come on Gamezone. It's bad enough you claim to be releasing an official HQ remake. And now you just go and change things? fundamentally HQ stuff like the board? Who are you to decide to do that? How dare you?

I'm disappointed.

I'm just making sure everyone's aware of that. I wouldn't want to give my money on this thing and end up tossing the board and the new quests, which will obviously have some weird visibility issues in some areas (and how about that weird leftover square that "fit" weirdly in the other 4 rooms?).
I too fully expect them to make tweaks and that's why I ain't don't not buying it (two negatives don't make a positive, they make a double negative, the more the better).
While you hope that they won't, I'm afraid that they will violate the principles and spirit of the original. I wish they won't, but I think they will.
I just think that the only useful thing in there are the figures and furniture and doors. But even there, why make 4 closed doors? the original had 5 and they still weren't enough in some situations.
And the figures could be any figures from any other boardgame or miniature company. Why THEIR figures get to be the original? I don't get it.

Finally, is the price 65 euros or something? Isn't that a tad high? How much will it cost when it gets out in shops?

Re: HeroQuest 25th anniversary crowdfunding!

Postby Pan » November 26th, 2013, 9:57 am

I am really disapointed about all of this :

- the KS started 2 days later than the announced release date... it is a detail but it can tell a little about the professionalism of the whole thing.
- they show like 15% of the game content... and everybody is backing the max o.O. Wow, people is not afraid to waste their money. Actually I see the thing like a horse racing, we don't have a clue of the final result and investing money now in it is like a big bold bet.
- we don't know anything about the rules/quest, spells cards, we cant even see the board... The picture showing the whole thing is photoshoped, adding many minis, tiles and some furnitures... To my mind, all of these is simply not done. Maybe they are waiting for the bakers opinions ? Could be a good thing...
- the bake rewards are a JOKE! Wow, the rounded stone make me laugh out loud. Card monsters should be in the base box like Sjeng said. For the rest... . Blank card... seriously... we are not in the 90's anymore.
- It is not clear on the KS page about the shipping prices... after some researchs, well, 9 dollars shipping into spain, and 40 dollars for the rest of the world... it gonna come somehow expensive...
- the box art is horrible, they trade the dark gloomy atmosphere of the original with this... cartoonish thing. According to their FB page commentaries, something like 5% of HQ gamers appreciate the new art direction, and want the old style back.

Well, all this lack of communication (at the time I am writing this, next reward should be at 223.000$, total pledged is 307.000$... no update...) make me feel careful about something than can be a commercial trickery. So, wait and see.

Has anyone watched the video? I have two questions/comments:

First - I really hope they got permission to use that commercial clip. That is the original commercial for the
original HQ - I find it hard to believe they were given permission to use that.

Second - during the video, they talk about how the game will come out next year and that they still need to
playtest the game to fix any bugs in the rules?? Really? I thought this was going to be HQ?
