I wonder that myself. Every dungeon seems to be 50% mine cart tracks according to these terrain kickstarters. So many other things I'd like instead.

Well I guess one great thing to do with all the mine cart track is to recreate Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom :D
Please PM me if any of my old links to files are currently down. I am in the process of hosting them somewhere new!

Possibly. I rather think it is because the traditional explanation for all the underground dungeons in fantasy worlds is "old dwarfen mines". This cliche I think orignated with Tolkien's Moria, and is expecially true for the Warhammer world, and therefore, to some extent to the Heroquest world.
Have a look ;)

Surely they'd have taken the old mine carts with them when they finished building the dungeon? Unless they used them as an underground taxi service. Blunderbuss cabs at your service?

It's not necessarily logical. It's just a matter of atmosphere. There are not many features that a majority of people will associate with "mines".
Having sayd this, if the dwarfes were forced to leave by attacking greenskin armies or the like, which is true for both Moria and the World's Edge Mountains, chances are the mine carts are still there.
I have included mine carts in my dungeons as a D&D DM, andi t was mostly good fun.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there should be mine carts included in every dungeon miniature range, I just try to explain the reasoning behind it.
Have a look ;)
