Hi folks sorry it has been a while again had a busy year and what not but hopefully can make some more progress on this project :)

Updated the quest book a little bit since I have a newer version of Office so it threw some of the formatting out a little bit, I also spotted that on a few quests I had somehow managed to not include the Wandering Monster so that has also been corrected. Still need to add all of the other packs yet to it but the main ones are done (Original, Kellar's Keep and The Return of the Witch Lord).

Well I don't fully know yet but I think the rule book is actually finished baring any major issues. I have done:

  • Corrected a bunch of spelling errors.
  • Tweaked the Monk class since it seemed rather broken and prone to abuse/cheese so hopefully fixed that somewhat though still needs testing.
  • Fixed what the Barbarian can and cannot wear since it would have been broken with the Berserk ability.
  • Various fixes here and there which I can't remember.

Much of what is there is untested in an actual game environment but hopefully it is fairly balanced. I still need to add the monsters from Dark Company though the PDF thing I have is hard to read so might have to have a mess about with it or something :D

Re: HeroQuest - Amped Edition (custom rule book)

I have started on the quest book Against the Ogre Horde and noted that in a couple of the quests the Heroes can become trapped and/or the quest can become not completable. As a result rather than removing the falling block traps from the various maps I have introduced a new Utility item called a Miners Kit, this allows a Hero to remove the rubble from a falling rock trap after it has been triggered. It takes 1D6 turns to do this and the Hero may do nothing else during that time or he has to start over. If it is the Dwarf doing it then they only roll 1D4. The Wizard may not use a Miners Kit. Doing it this way I thought would make the evil wizard cards (A Series of Unfortunate Events) rather interesting since it forces the players to wait around a bit.

Thoughts?

EDIT - Also added an extra type of healing potion called Supreme Healing which does 1D6+4 Body Points up to the maximum, downside is that is has now put potions on two pages by 1 potion is really annoying!

Why not just change the quest so that characters can't get trapped?

Which software do you use to edit your questbook?

I generate the quest maps in HeroScribe and the take a screenshot of the map and place it in to MS Office where I add the rest of the quest text etc.

Side note, I have adjusted the rules for stone doors slightly and clarified the rules on the teleport trap since the way I had it meant that Heroes would be full on stuck so added an optional rule to allow two way travel so as the quest is actually completable.

I have now added the Wizards of the Lord of Chaos (Morcar) to the quest book and started on the Frozen Horror pack. I have also adjusted the Henchmen slightly in the rule book.

The Frozen Horror pack has now been added the quest book though I haven't uploaded it yet, all the page numbering is wrong since my table of contents is now an extra page long which has messed it all up so I haven't bothered uploading it yet until I fix it.
