Wasn't an original joke from me, but an insider reference.

The fimirs must be related to echidnas!

Figo, how do you plan on placing doors/secret passages between the rooms as shown in this picture? Have you got space because on my board i dont have much and the squares arent opposite. Could be a snag we may not have thought about.
Anyway its looking very good, cant wait to see it complete.

I would make two or four doors whose opposite sides are as offset as the squares are. You don't see it negatively from above (the door is effectively two squares wide with part covering the wall being two squrares long and the doors each adjoined on the respective left side [in this case] ) and you never see both sides on the board.
It's a tiny little bummer, but nothing that would bother me much with these great boards the two of you have been building.

I'm going to use regular door on either side without the stone arches etc. It will be few and far between that there will be a door in those locations so it's not going to be a huge issue. As KK says it's a small issue that helps get our creativity kicking

A great idea for a 3D board - and for placing doors [open or closed ones] wherever you may please, is to use a board with deep edges and wedged walls or doors, like in the following video.

I think I will be picking up this one.

Same for the darks for shading. Then you'll get the hang of practiced color theory and have real fun.

Just to add what knightcrawler said, here's a super article about using colours in this way:

And how it relates to skin tones, basically cold shading and warm highlights:

This is such an awesome board - best of luck! I imagine the finish line is getting in sight!

Thanks Stig, that's some good information. I need more time to practice. I Haven't had a chance to work on the board for a bit.

Started this as a side project. A dice tower. I find a go back to the 3D board after months away from it with renewed enthusiasm. I'm hoping this dice tower will spark my interest in it again. It's such a massive project for with limited free time available.

The North-West section well under way. I'm going to build the North-East section at the same time as this. I figure it's not like starting all over again as each section is complete.
