I am in!

If you want help in the design of the original, in the design of a fancorrected/play tested version, a simulation of a quest or all the quest, or for the translation to German, or for generating High-Fidelity SVG quest maps, I am in.

I asked James Boykin from Monstrous encounters if he would like to help with the mini design. He made very faithful STL files for the original models, he is the right guy for this.

Lestodante, if you're working with Louis Octavio on those game cards or with the_maal, I am happy to join there, too. Babyrhino takes no work currently, sadly. I have booked the_maal until end of this year or maybe mid-jan, but then there are possibilities.

I will also donate in a minute.

That's a very interesting document because it sets standards guideline and precise instructions the designer had to respect, including how the new sprue should be thinked (1 female hero, 2 type of monsters, another 2 type of monsters, 3x monsters and the vilain) but also (in the following pages) notes about the creation of the tiles, layout of the quests (map and notes), the limit of 30 cards for each questpack and more. Some kind of Adventure Design Booklet but for the real designers.
In a letter from the reviewer, he wrote he changed (deleted) a quest from the Dwarf Quest Pack because a big tile was not fitting into the diecut sheet (cardboard tokens).
It also reveals the designers for each questpack were four different people.
On another note it is sayd MB will have included a special flyer called The Cross Sell Flyer: a double side document, one side advertising the 4 questpacks and the other side a special single quest featuring stuffs from all the four new questpacks -- "kind of a teaser to show all the neat stuff that all of you have created."

This is really interesting, thanks for doing it and sharing the information. Are you allowed share the names of the teams in the US and in Europe? I always wondered how many people were involved in the development of the expansions. Do you know if there were other expansions planned by the European team too? I always assumed there was supposed to be some final showdown with Morcar.

I never really liked the Barbarian and Elf quest packs, they seemed too far removed from the original setting and solo quests seem to take away from where HeroQuest is about.

Apologies if this question has been answered already, but what elements of these new packs are missing from your design notes? Is there anything at all that you don’t have?

On first impressions it sounds like you have pretty much everything you will need to bring these up to level of completion similar to the Elf and Barbadian Packs. The Inn is at your service, willing and able to help.

What we're missing is basically the art (cover, cards). Of course we miss the miniatures, but we know how they look like.
For the Wizard, there are little things to fix. We might have to come up with a card or two (have to double check if we at least have a description of the missing 2 to make 30).
For the Dwarf, it's a bit more complicated. We would have all the material, but it seems that same material went through a deep revision, which would leave us with a lot to come up with. There are some indication on how they may have wanted to complete that, but it's difficult to set a timeline with the latest ideas. Seems like there are about 3 stages: first draft, revision, directions to follow. It's not always easy to tell which note would fall in which of the two latter categories. Like, some monsters have been striked out, but the're still present in the revised maps. Sometimes the designer would strike out parts he felt were completed, rather than canceled. I'm thinking about going back to him to get some intel, asking in which direction he would/would have go/gone.

So, if I have to throw percentages, not considering art, WQP is probably 90% complete, the DQP might be 50/60% - pretty much all background and quests, some cards and some monsters.

Thanks Anderas! Yes, James contacted me. I'm sure he can help. We're trying to asses what we need to complete the packs, and will go on asking all those who could help us complete them for their help once we have a better idea. Hopefully we can start in a couple fo weeks.

It is known Mike Gray was in charge of the HQ and Battlemaster line for Hasbro. I can tell you Scott D. Haring designed the Barb and Tom Wham the Dwarf. There were, I think, a couple of other Hasbro executives who were updated on the changes. There's a name that is probably the card artist for the Elf/Barb. Another name is used in relation to the miniatures being assembled/requiring assembly (but I don't know if it's the artist or someone managing the models). We're digging more info as we go through the material.

I don't know. That would be on an entirely different team. Consider that ATOH and WoM came out after the USA packs, but were clearly in an advanced state on completion when work began on them. So there might be some more packs they started to think about, altough Morcar seems to be somewhat plagued with the same scarce playtesting issues of the NA packs.

Thanks so much for your response, I would love to help/be involved in any way possible but I'm not sure what skills I have that I could offer - I've done a lot of academic writing if that's any help! I will happily donate though as I'm already happy to pay for this information.

Latex is a good way to assemble all the parts into a quest book. Do you know Latex?

I am impressed with all the new available info. Hopefully all will fit at the end. Really interesting how bosses told the designers how to proceed with the questpacks design, and at the same time I can guess why EQP and BQP have all those misstestings...

Indeed I do, use it for all my articles.

I donated there (Irish name!), I hope that helps.
