Update: 8/31/22: Recently it was noticed that Hasbro had decommissioned the old pledge drive web page (it was inevitable) and redirected everything to their new HeroQuest franchise/shop pages. The old pages can be viewed in archive form with most media still viewable (other than the old trailer which showed the gray cgi rendered miniatures and statuary rather than the colored plastic as in the final trailer) HERE. :redheart:

While this thread is useful for archival purposes, new threads are covering the Rogue Heir of Elethorn(2nd Hero Collection, very similar to the Guardian Knights in design having opposite sex figures with their own set of skill cards plus equipment of a "Bandolier" granting special abilities to dagger throwing, and most importantly for the RETAIL market... no more limited edition nonsense) releasing Dec 1, 2022, and the remake of Mage of the Mirror (EQP) in Spring 2023 (with a confirmed MALE ELF, though this time based on the 1992 box cover art rather than any previously released design, and of course he'll be in red plastic... plus there's new "elven" furniture rather than new dice/pads like in the Frozen Horror Remake... AND double the number of Elven Warriors/Archers this time with male and female versions of those plus the Ogre monster had his body points reduced to 5, we know very little else but many pictures have been posted online of the contents). Most of this info about the Rogue Heir was known for awhile but a lot was revealed at GenCon at the beginning of August. More may be revealed at PulseCon (end of September)... :elf: :elf: :elf:

As we move on to other threads, the Rogue Heir of Elethorn has been obtained early by various fans and close up pictures of all the cards have been shown.

Still no official release date for the Mage of the Mirror Expansion, but yet another, apparently all-new expansion (with rumors of including an alternate of the Guardian Knight inside) has also been teased while HeroQuest takes a backseat to other products at this year's PulseCon. Avalon Hill may have its attention focused on the revival of HeroScape, but this, along with all of the excitement at GenCon over the Mage of the Mirror remake next year, prove HeroQuest fans haven't been forgotten!

I look forward to more unboxings...

Another thread to look at: Mage of the Mirror remake news... Amazon is apparently shipping early, with dates listed of as early as Dec 28, 2022 to Jan 19, 2023, with orders placed now picking out dates in the first week of January for estimated delivery date.

That's right, at least Amazon US (haven't verified the others) is no longer listing it as a "pre-order" but an order. So of course I placed mine. I figured they'd have that sorted out from last time, but apparently if you guess correctly you may get certain retailers shipping it out early! At this point we don't know of any internal differences in the Quest book but pretty much everything else has been shown to be the same as the '92 edition related to the text except that Ogre card (and the usual word substitutions... Chaos to Dread, etc).

Keep in mind the official HasbroPulse release date is still February 1st (and yes, it's thankfully a retail release like the last few have been). EntertainmentEarth also says January, while BigBadToyStore lists the official date.

It seems that the first unboxing pics of Mage of the Mirror are already posted on Facebook:

Ah ha! Brilliant! Thanks HispaZargon for sharing. So somebody has gotten it even earlier than we could hope for... more than a week ahead!

Reposting those images from above for those (like me) who don't have facebook. All credit to the original posters (thanks for sharing!).

Now if only we could see what (if anything) is different INSIDE the quest book. Is the printed playtest/errata snuck inside the box this time, or forthcoming in digital form (like Frozen Horror)?

The only change so far is the already known about Ogre nerfing and the extra elf monster figures, right?

Pity I don't really have the time to stream until after the new year, but everything looks great and that's nice to know it's coming early. At least SOME people will get it in time for Christmas day!

Great stuff, keep it coming! :redheart: |_P

Good to see closeups of the "half sleeve" on the box too, showing the alternate artwork (and possibly a cost saving measure with the different languages?)

Could be... not a big fan of such kind of saving measures, but who knows.

In Quebec, Canada, games have to have all the text published in both English and French or it can't be released there, and I've been told that this doesn't just mean the instruction booklet but the box as well. I guess they'd still have to print dual language on the cards (or include both french and english cards in the same box, doubling the number of cards) though the box could get the slipcase treatment. Just guessing about this based on what others have told me.

We've now seen everything out of the box, all quest book pages... only a few of the treasure cards haven't been shown in photos but are the same. Check out the above thread for much more detail on the Mage of the Mirror (EQP) remake unboxing! Thanks to SteveRS2000 for much of this new info!

It's shipped early, so get it while you can (especially if you're in the UK)!

Posting this now since I expect to be dead in the morning when the wife finds out how much I have just spent on HeroQuest stuff :D

Just placed the order on Amazon for the base game, Kellar's Keep, Return of the Witch Lord, The Rogue Heir of Elethorn, The Mage of the Mirror and The Frozen Horror :o

Even after all this time this game has a very special place in my heart <3 so I figured YOLO!
