NA 2nd Edition errata suggestions

The Hasbro Q&A told of a fan-suggested LOS rules clarification the developers plan to implement. It regards placement of monsters when Hero movement reveals a new room or corridor and the Hero looks into it. So it will be officially said monsters won't block what a Hero "sees" when placing said monsters. Good.

What other rules clarifications (not house-rules) do you think Hasbro should include the new rulebook? Keller's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord clarifications/errata are also welcome.

The possible movement of furniture, and moving through furniture.

Specifications on placement for treasure chest searches, like noting that the hero must be adjacent to the chest.
Can chests be searched if there are pit traps around them that haven't been disarmed?

The Command Chaos spell, can the evil Wizard force a hero to use one of his spells if they're being controlled?

And maybe some rules on changing weapons during the quest, as shields can't be used with battle axes and such. Maybe they should address is the Crossbow is 2 handed or not.

Specifications on the Courage spell. The debate never ends on how long it lasts.

Stuff like that...

Monster in the same room of yours should always be visible to cast a spell against, as it was in the UK version.

So, if they’re visible, can a hero with a ranged weapon or spell attack the monster behind the first monster?

That clarification isn’t in any of the current rule sets.

Not being able to see “how many monsters are in a corridor makes for a potentially tense situation, and would change a number of the quests where there a large number of monsters “queued” up in a corridor.

Yes. They are placed on the board immediately.

No. The rule of what a Hero can target is still subject to the LoS rule. My use of "sees" was misleading.

In rooms all monsters are placed. In corridors, monsters are only placed if they are classed as able to be “seen” and the hero has that clear line of sight. Placing those monsters that aren’t yet “visible” and can’t be seen would also give rise to the question “well, they’re “visible” on the map, why can’t I shoot them?”

Additionally, changing it so all monsters are placed in a hallway alters how the core map design works. There are numerous quests that have “monsters in every square” in a hallway. In classic, those monsters aren’t revealed until monsters ahead of them are removed and they become “visible.”

Placing ALL monsters in a corridor actually would give the evil Wizard more minions to move during their turn, because the EW can’t move monsters that aren’t on the board. By placing all the monsters in a corridor on the board those monsters are now able to be moved, even without the heroes being able to target them.

Thematically, I look at the corridors as being dimly lit so the heroes are unable to determine what lies behind a placed monster. Is it another monster? Or was that merely a trick on the eye eyes from the flickering torches?

C'mon, let's be realistic. I think being in a real room with a lot of people. Ask them to place themself in a line in front of you. Now you take a gun with soft balls and try to shot the last one of the row. I bet you can't.
But please don't tell me you are not able to see the people behind the first one. There are too many factors influencing your line of sight, perspective, height of each one, your head should also be so still that you can't alter the prospective.
So for me they are always visible but I can't shot the ones behind the first one, unless it is a gargoyle behind a goblin. For spell casting I only need to see them.

Yeah, I think you'd totally be able to tell if there was more then one monster in the hall.
Perhaps you can't target the rear monster with a crossbow, but you'd still be able to see 'em.

The only exception here, as I've always played, is the Ogre. Ogres are too big and block line of sight behind them. I think this is why it was explicitly stated as such in Against the Ogre Horde, because this "sight" rule didn't apply to other monsters.

The core map design came from the EU edition. And in the EU edition you do place all the monsters in a corridor at once, limited only by walls and doors. (At least in the 2nd edition. It wasn't really clear in the 1st edition.)

Those Kellar's Keep quests and their hallways packed with monsters were indeed designed to put all the monsters on the board at once and let the evil wizard player move all of them in their turn.

It sounds as if the Hasbroquest designers are taking their cue from the EU 2nd edition on this, which is interesting.
