Morcar's General

Postby Pancho » March 20th, 2018, 7:29 am

I just spotted something that I previously glossed over in the intro story in the rules booklet.
This intro twice mentions Morcar's general, as if he could be an important character not just in the first war against Morcar but also in the current storyline. Once when mentioning how "For many years Rogar trained his army, being careful to avoid Morcar's general until all was ready", then again after the great battle, "But the victory was not absolute. Morcar and his general escaped beyond the Sea of Claws, and even now they plot their revenge. Soon their plots will be ready and the Empire will have need of a new Rogar".
This is in the British rules booklet (sorry, I just can't call it the EU rules booklet anymore ;) ).

Interesting. Anyone have any thoughts on who this general could be? I don't think he is mentioned in any of the expansions. Could make for an interesting villain, or even a new quest pack.

I sure hope this is in the cards for me as a German too.

I think the general is Skulmar. To be sure or counter that argument, read the fluff of Return of the Witch-Lord.
I've always seen Skulmar as the general of Morcar's undead army, Kessandria as some kind of sorceress-queen/lahmian vampire (I made her a Dark Elf in essence),
and the Witch-Lord as the mightiest lich-figure.

How is the Witch-Lord not at the top of the pyramid? He IS because...
Morcar is a figment of Mentor's schizophrenia.

I'm sorry, the Heroquexit vote was quite clear. The Wizard, being a leftard elitist intellectual, voted against. The Barbarian, being a stupid white northerner voted yes. The Elf, being a young fellow, who would be most seriously affected, couldn't be bothered to vote. The Dwarf voted yes, but didn't want a hard heroquexit.

Unfortunately, the negotiations are in the hands of Zargon and Sir Ragnar!

But seriously, this guy has real HQ provenance. I'm sure he was put in for future possible expansions, along with the likes of Skulmar and the Witch Queen. They have both had questpacks done for them by fans, so one for this this chap is a must for someone? With no other information on him, a designer could really go creative.

I'm sorry, the Heroquexit vote was quite clear. The Wizard, being a leftard elitist intellectual, voted against. The Barbarian, being a stupid white northerner voted yes. The Elf was totally aloof and abstained. The Dwarf voted yes, but didn't want a hard heroquexit.

LOL.
It all hinges on who gets fishing rights for the Sea of Claws, and whether we accept a hard frontier with the Border Princes.
Zargon & Ragnar have already been proven to be traitors, so they have the perfect skill-set to sell out, I mean negotiate on behalf of, the people.

I've just become a :gargoyle: :D

Morcar's general would have to be someone very ancient. So an Undead general such as Skulmar/Witch Lord would fit the bill KnightKrawler. I would go with the Witch Lord as he seems to have the gravitas to be Morcar's number two. Like the Witch King of Angmar to Granddaddy Sauron.

My immediate thought was to make the general a Chaos warlord. Morcar built his first army up in the Chaos Wastes after all.

For sure a solid quest pack is waiting to be made, if we don't go down the Skulmar/Witch Lord path.

Personally, I've made both Skulmar and the Witch Queen into Vampires, as my HQ was sadly lacking any Vamps. The Witch Lord is more of a traditional boney Liche.

There's a new drinking song among the imperial plebs:

"Harden the Border for the Princes
to drive it heartily up their princely arses...
until every blue-blood princess tearily winces
and every blind man sees through all the farces!"

Unrest is spreading...

the Italian version speaks about generals (plural) on the first part, while in the final part it says "...Morcar and his supreme general escaped..."
The four Wizards of Morcar are also called Morcar's Generals; so I guess any minion who leads a Chaos Army could be considered another Morcar's General.

Nice. I can really picture this song coming out of the dank drinking holes and stale taverns across the Realm.

I actually have a melody in my head. Something like that song Merry and Pippin sing and dance in The Prancing Pony in The Lord of the Rings movie.
Complete with ale spilling into hookers' cleavages.
