I think if we give it time that will help. Just look at how quickly this thing took off from practically no publicity. But c'mon, get the UK into the action!

If they are partnering with companies to provide access in Australia/New Zealand. Maybe they are trying to overcome some barrier to do the same in other countries.

Maybe sometime soon we'll see it officially appear in Europe.

Not sure if this helped with opening up to more regions or not.

Moon Design Publications transfers ownership of the HeroQuest trademark to Hasbro
Posted by Michael O'Brien on 22nd Sep 2020

MEDIA RELEASE: For immediate release

Ann Arbor, MI. 22 September 2020

Moon Design Publications has announced the formal transfer of ownership of the HeroQuest trademark to Hasbro. Moon Design's HeroQuest tabletop roleplaying game line, published by Chaosium, will be rebranded as "Questworlds".

"We know that the old Milton Bradley HeroQuest board game has many devoted fans who would love to see it back in print once again. The transfer of the HeroQuest trademark to Hasbro is a significant step towards that becoming a reality," said Chaosium head of licensing, Michael O'Brien.

The HeroQuest trademark: some background...
HeroQuest the boardgame was published by Milton Bradley (a subsidiary of Hasbro) and Games Workshop from 1989 - 1994. The trademark having lapsed, Greg Stafford registered the HeroQuest trademark in 2002 for his HeroQuest tabletop roleplaying game.

Note: in the 1970s, Greg Stafford used the term "heroquest" to describe a transformative journey in which a quester enters the realm of the gods to reenact a myth, returning with gifts or special knowledge, and began designing a roleplaying game exploring those themes. Greg Stafford's HeroQuest tabletop RPG is completely unrelated to the Milton Bradley HeroQuest boardgame.

Moon Design Publications became the licensed publisher of Greg Stafford's HeroQuest RPG in 2006. In 2012 Moon Design Publications purchased the HeroQuest trademark and other related IP from Greg Stafford.

In 2015 Moon Design Publications became part of the ownership of Chaosium Inc. Via Chaosium, Moon Design Publications has continued to publish the HeroQuest RPG, largely for tabletop roleplaying in Greg Stafford's fantasy world of Glorantha.

In April 2020, Moon Design Publications published the Questworlds System Reference Document (SRD) so independent publishers could use the HeroQuest RPG core rules system for other game worlds and settings.

The sale and transfer of the HeroQuest trademark from Moon Design Publications to Hasbro was completed in July 2020.

What's Next for HeroQuest the Tabletop Roleplaying Game?
The HeroQuest tabletop roleplaying game is being rebranded as Questworlds. The rules themselves will remain unchanged.

Over coming months, Chaosium will be rebadging all HeroQuest products.

"We are currently selling off existing printed stocks bearing the HeroQuest mark at a discount. Purchase these print releases while you can! Once these books are taken down from sale they will be out-of-print permanently," said Michael O'Brien.

I feel like I need to chime in in regard to colored plastic.
In recent years Games Workshop has started making models in all kinds of colored plastic - of which I own quite a lot.
Gotta say... freaking hate it!

I like to give my minis a very thin layer of primer before painting, and with grey that is fine. But when the plastic is red or blue or bright orange... that shows through, forcing me to apply a thicker layer.
Even worse, if you kit bash with parts of different colors.
If I was in charge they would all be grey plastic.

The only crime in miniature painting is not to paint :ugeek:

Well, ok, but this isn't Games Workshop, it's Hasbro. Maybe they won't use those colors you hate that GW uses. I don't want garish colors either, that won't be fun to play right out of the box. I just want it to be the same colors we had before, red, green, white, gray, and brown.

I wonder how much trouble it would be to sell gray minis for painters and colored (not painted, I know that's expensive), but colored minis for non-painters.

Day 2: $267,000 in Sales
Day 3: $151,000 in Sales
Day 4: $102,000 in Sales
Day 5: $65,000 in Sales
Day 6: $52,500 in Sales
Day 7: $39,698 in Sales
Day 8: $43,647 in Sales
Day 9: $38,097 in Sales
Day 10: $34,048 in Sales
Day 11: $26,248 in Sales
Day 12: $24,049 in Sales
Day 13: $21,848 in Sales

Still dropping, I'm going to continue to assume that the NZ and AUS numbers are not filtering back to the US/CAN page, so these numbers are purely US/CAN only.

I’m glad that they have it available, even if it is as a Hasbro Pulse “Kickstarter”.

I’m not quite looking forward to converting old quests with “Fimir” to new ones with “Abomination”.

Though, it’s interesting to wonder whether the “Abomination” Reference is a subtle ‘salute’ to the Bard’s quote ‘This is an Abomination’ ... as we now have an actual Abomination.

I'm fairly new to miniature painting since I rediscovered my interest in Heroquest, but I agree with Goblin King that I don't really mind what color the minis come in. I will be priming, unless pre-primed, and painting every miniature that comes with this set

Once you've played with minis that you've painted yourself with your family friends there's just no turning back. The difference it makes is not small; even people just at the house while you're playing will notice and be like, "wow those look really good, did you do them yourself?", and this just motivates you even more

My advice though amateur would be to 100% get yourself to paint your minis with this game. Even if they turn out "bad" it'll be light years better than a plain set of red and green minis

Ok. I can see that point. To that, I would ask Hasbro to include a painting guide. What to buy, what colors would go well together, and step by step instructions. There's waaaaay too much information out there on the internet for this and I really, really don't want to sift through all of that and end up with a crappy paint job that I feel I have to redo when I stumble across better instructions. That article that was just posted at Avalon Hill might be a good start with tips. But I'd just rather have clear, step by step instructions with a color guide and shopping list. Who knows, maybe I'll be good at painting, but I know I'm pretty lazy and I'd like someone to hold my hand when I start.

on the EB Games website (Australian distributor) it clearly says:
To be unlocked at US$2M is a new Quest book by Stephen Baker called Prophecy of Telor. More to come as new stretch targets are reached.

Abominations I wonder if that was a straight up nod to the bard, knowing what he might think...lol. :fimir:

Great minds....That’s the same thing I said on page 45...lol
It has to be a direct nod to the bard.
