New errata found for Against the Ogre Horde!

Playing through the remake edition of ATOH, I found a new errata... Quest 8 (page 34 map) actually calls for THREE double blocked square tiles (while owning the game system plus this expansion you'll still only have 2 available). Yes, you can use two single blocked square tiles to represent the third stone wall, but then there's the possibility you will run out of skull tiles (which have a skull on one side and a single blocked stone square on the back), because you will need many skull tiles in this quest, especially in the final battle.

The other solution to this errata is to instead use the included "fallen block" (stone rubble) tiles to represent some of the blocked squares (similar to the original EU version) as only one fallen block trap appears potentially in the quest as written. These fallen rock/rubble tiles included have the hour glasses (activation tokens) on the back and so these will not be used during regular quests, as they were designs for the "arena mode" quests.

Remember the EU system didn't have the single blocked brick stone tiles, instead it used rubble tiles for both blocked squares and fallen rock trap but in the remake edition these are converted by default to the nice brick wall tiles.

Absolutely it is an errata, inherited from original EU version of the expansion.

The double square wall inside the room should be replaced by two single square ones.

Ah ha! The original ATOH was of course under the EU rules, so Skull tiles (and single blocked squares) didn't exist (only rubble tiles, and body points for the few multi-body point monsters were tracked on those trackers printed on the quest booklets themselves for Morcar to cross off with his pencil).

Marcus Timm from Facebook Ye Olde Inn group pointed the following:

Just stumbled over an undefined treasure chest in one of the quests of "First Light" (page 17). I know there are rules for "elven treasures" in "Rise of the Dread Moon" that define what should be found inside undefined chests. But in First Light there is no such statement - not in the "Rulebook" - not on the "DM screen". Maybe you could interpret that as "draw a card from the treasure deck". But this is kind of strange since the chest must be heavy and is mentioned in the text. But it seems the authors simply forgot to state the content of said chest. Should we add this to the list of errata? Maybe someone with the right connections can ask the authors to clarify this?

My opinion about this, already mentioned before, is that chests without any dedicated quest note should be considered like any other piece of furniture, just a decoration/blocking item. Prophecy of Telor's book from Mythic Tier also showed another empty chest on page 6, for example, and Mage of the Mirror defined special rules for those situations. Nevertheless, I always try to report those cases too in the errata list to track them properly and avoid confusions, even knowing they are not actually an errata, so I will consider the finding on FL page 17 in the next update of the list.

Probably those chests were intended to have a note but they forgot. The work around is either for Zargon to choose to put something in the chest that is then found, say it is "empty" (nothing for first searcher) or draw a card if played without modification. The elven riches could be applied retroactively too as another option for modification.

Lots of little typos and missing words in the new WOM, but not sure how they impact gameplay at all... though I see the "pits of darkness" that were in the original version and never explained (within that expansion, they were in ATOH though) were replaced by normal pit traps this time.

About Multiple Attacks different rule interpretation between The Frozen Horror and The Rogue Heir of Elethorn, Doug Hopkings (WanderingMonster) recently gave his own view on AH Discord channel, in response to a question from dreicunan.

Basically, I interpret that Doug encourages to consider the defend rule differently, depending if the attacker is a Warbear or a Rogue, like the official app does, see screenshot below...

About Wizards of Morcar recently leaked card rules, Doug Hopkins also clarified to a Kurgan's question that in spells like "Call Skeletons" or "Summon Mummy", the summoned monster/s may move and attack inmmediatelly in the same turn they are summoned, though it is not said in the card:

I'm thinking they started using the "Zargon skull" as a map symbol in the retail version CoPD and explained it there, right? But without having played those you might not know...

Yes, also implying I was wrong to think the monsters just appeared (and nothing more) for Game System spells Summon Undead and Summon Orcs. The confusion was introduced because (in the NA line) we now have some cards that say move and attack immediately while others lack the text. He intends them all to be the same way, Zargon gets to move use the monsters... he doesn't have to wait until his next turn!

I guess we have Summon Wolves from MOTM and Summon Specters from ROTDM as well...

Recent leaks of Wizards of Morcar content also arised some other errata/mistakes/questions. Here are some of them:

Questbook, page 4: Decription of Altar Tile says it represents "the High Altar with the Shrine of Eiretash" however, this tile is not finally used for such purpose in the questbook.

Questbook, page 12: In Earthqueake rules it is said each one of the 6 squares of the Earthqueake Tile counts as a pit trap, however it is also said that characters on the tile can only attack and cast spells to characters or monsters also on the tile only (no outside it), which goes against the usual rules for pit traps.

Questbook, pages 24 & 36: The quest map shows a "Zargon" symbol which purpose is suposed to be the place where the High Mage can move if casts the Escape spell, however this symbol has no explanation anywhere in the questbook. An explanation should have been included in the general rules section of the book.

Monster Card "Minotaur": Gore special ability of Minotaur talks about being "incapacitated", however nowhere in questbook is explained what does this mean. Probably it means being "in shock" or being affected by spells which limit moster movement, but it is not explained.

Detection Spell Card "Future Sight": It is unclear if the Hero may re-roll every attack, defense and movement roll until the spell ends or he may only re-roll just one of them. It is also unclear if the Hero must re-roll al dice or he/she can choose which dice to re-roll.

Detection Spell Card "Treasure Horde": It is unclear if this spell must be cast before or after searching for treasure. It is not clear either what happens if the Hero drwas bad treasure cards, are their effects applied or are they just suffled and returned back to the trasure deck?

A good Zargon will know what to do with all these errors.

With the Altar, I'd likely use the Sorcerer's bench on top of the tile.

With the Earthquake I'd treat it like an extended pit trap. A lot of monsters are 1 Body Point and wouldn't survive the Earthquake, but a Dread Warrior would. I'd allow attacks from above and within. Spells too, it wouldn't raise the difficulty that much.

I remember they used the Zargon symbol in the newer Crypt of Perpetual Darkness. In the original crowd funding one, the Escape Spell was used, but didn't give a location for where they appeared.

I understand what you're saying about incapacitation. I would imagine they mean through "shock" or maybe under the effects of Tempest... You're caught in a whirlwind, does that count as incapacitated? Or also there's the added rule in Jungles of Delthrak where the hero doesn't die right away when he reaching 0BP. But you've right, they should be a little more specific with that. Another thing about the Minotaur is his Gore attack, it doesn't specify if heroes can defend against this or not.

With Future Sight I'll give the benefit to the hero as they already hurt this spell. I'd say you pick and choose what you need to reroll. You need 9 spaces to get somewhere, and roll a :roll6: & :roll1:, just reroll that :roll1:. It would also be a good defense spell for the Wizard, as it can be cast off-turn. If he's unexpectedly surrounded he could activate this during the monster's turn and reroll all non-:whiteshield:s.
Also this spell doesn't explicitly say that it can't be cast on any other hero, not does it say that it can. There is vague implication that it's meant for the hero casting the spell, but it leaves enough doubt that some of us could still play this spell the way we see fit.

I think the Treasure Horde card is explicit enough, I have to go back and recheck but doesn't it say you may cast the spell "instead" of drawing the treasure card, and thus get 3 cards from the treasure deck. I'm pretty sure it allows you to put any of the cards back if you don't like them and reshuffle the deck?

The former "Dispel," which is now "Unlearn," says you can force a card from a hero/monster's hand. It specifies spells, but part of me is thinking it should also extend to skills or maybe a special ability like the Ice Gremlin's theft or a Blightcrawler's Spawn. Spells of Protection are still relatively weak, so part of me is looking for a way to make this spell worth more.
