For this type of game it really doesn't matter. The actual levels would look and play exactly the same. Except all images would be rotated 90 degrees.
I guess the shop would benefit a little from the wider screen if you keep it in the same style.

It's the least of all concerns.

I think you will be amazed bu the quality of this sequel.
I finally have a graphics artist who will redo all the characters, monsters and world map.

And so many news, upgradable heroes, spells, weapons. Random dungeons. And a lot more.

Stay tuned :barbarian: :dwarf: :elf: :wizard:

Wow that's some nice artwork! Bow's a tad too big though, I'd shorten the bow and lengthen the string, more tension.

I'd really wish you'd be able to actually call this HeroQuest and use the entire range of the IP. The HQ feel is really present!

Will the ranger be able to actually shoot as a default/buyable weapon this time around? ;)

And I agree with Sjeng, shorten the bow.

I wish too, but it's almost impossible, I'm a solo developer and would never get a chance.

This time there will be ranged weapons as well. The whole equipment system will be revisited, as in my opinion 50% of the items are quite useless.
Equipment will be persistent across the whole adventure.

I'm still not sure about consumable items. For now I think they should be kept across dungeons, but not across quests. If you have any idea please share.

I agree that if you could keep items from quest to quest, pretty soon you'd be all but invincible.
That said, I would like to see the option of buying some kind of healing item.
Perhaps something like 'provisions' which only heal 1BP, but rot by the end of the next dungeon.

The reason being, if the first room you enter happens to have the 'big bosses' in, it can be over very quickly as you haven't had the chance to find a healing potion.

Just a thought...

Honestly I think the current system for consumable items works just fine.
The risk of a player accumulating too many items to breeze through bosses is too big and game-breaking.
Just make the bosses tougher? And *lemony goodness* all over the players who actually used their items through out the game?
No, keep the current system. That also makes it easier to balance a quest as you can easier expect a certain average of found consumables.

IF... You decide to include a shop with consumable items, they should be so expensive that it's a decision whether to buy that helmet or buy a potion. It shouldn't be like, now I've bought all the armor I can carry, time to buy 5 potions for the last 50 gold.
